The Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Sep 5, 2002 issue: Goldie M. DEWEY, 82, of Cotter died Sunday, September 1, 2002. She was born July 11, 1920 at Cotter to Isaac E. and Elsie F. MCSPARRIN TOLLIVER. She married W.A. "Archie" DEWEY on August 22, 1936 in Flippin, Arkansas. Mrs. DEWEY was a lifetime area native, a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a lifetime member of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in Cotter and the Calvary Temple Women's Ministries. She is survived by four sons, J.B. DEWEY and wife Jean and Alfred DEWEY and wife Karen all of Mountain Home, Jimmie Ray DEWEY of Cotter and Gary DEWEY and wife Brenda of Gassville, Arkansas; one daughter, Nancy Faye STACKHOUSE and husband Jerry of St. Louis, Missouri; one brother, Cecil TOLLIVER and wife Lavern of Cotter; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Mary Lee CARDWELL; and one great-grandson, Joshua Paul STRONG. Visitation was held Tuesday, September 3, 2002 from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church with Reverend Ron DAVIS and Reverend Mike HOWELL officiating. Interment followed in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church. The Mountaineer Echo February 7, 2002 issue: Hassie L. WILLIAMS of Gassville, Arkansas died Sunday February 3, 2002 at the Gassville Nursing Home. She was 88. Mrs. WILLIAMS was born May 22, 1913 at Dorsey, Mississippi the daughter of John and Becky MURPHY FRANDS. She moved from Mississippi to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1947 and them moved to Gassville ten years ago. In September 1928 at Mississippi, she married Odie WILLIAMS. Mrs. WILLIAMS was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, H. Wayne WILLIAMS and wife Jeanette of Rapid City, SD, Bobby H. WILLIAMS and wife Bertha of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Larry K. WILLIAMS and wife Kelly of Lepanto, AR; five daughters Dorothy F. NORMAN and husband Albert of Dwight, IL, Doris V. SMITH and husband Johnny of Lepanto, AR, Ruby J. BELL and husband LeRoy of Flippin, AR, Martha S. FELKS and husband Eddie of Lepanto, AR and Mary Lou METCALFE and husband Tom of Tryon, NE; twenty-four grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mr. DUFFY was born January 29, 1945 at Harrison, Arkansas to Ray and Margie PANGLE DUFFY. On July 2, 1965, He married Brenda Jo INGRAM. Mr. DUFFY was the current pastor of the Church on the Rock in Yellville, Arkansas. He was the co-owner of Duffy Brothers Heating and Cooling business in Yellville. He was a 1963 graduate of Yellville-Summit High School where he was a star member of their basketball team that had a 40-1 season in 1963. Survivors include his wife, Brenda DUFFY of Yellville; sons, Kevin DUFFY and wife Kary of Yellville and Jason DUFFY of Fayetteville, AR; daughter, Shelly ALLEN and husband Tony of Summit, AR; mother, Margie DUFFY of Yellville; brothers, Roger DUFFY and wife Janice and David DUFFY all of Yellville; sister, Patricia CLINKINGBEARD and husband Paul of Calico Rock, AR; and seven grandchildren, Issac, Sawyer, Nick, Kymball, Korbin, Kyli and Alex. Jacob SANDFOR was born March 21, 1910 at Chicago, IL to Ingemann and Beathe ESPEDAL SUNDFOR. He married Josephine M. Sandfor on June 22, 1963 at Chicago, IL. He was a resident of Lakeview, AR since moving from Elmwood Park IL in 1979. He was a truck driver for Olson Trucking Company, and was protestant. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Mountain Home Masonic Lodge #225 F & AM, past Worshipful Master of the Triangle Masonic Lodge in Chicago, and Past Commander of the Legion of Honor. He was a member of the St. Bernard Commandery #035 in Chicago, the Scottish Rite-Valley of Chicago, and the Sahara Tempel in Pine Bluff, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by several nieces and nephews including locally, Sandra Sundfor-Fulscher of Lakeview and Burt W. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley news by Frankie Seay, Week of September 5, 2002 Issue: Another former Arkansan, this time from Harrison, called me after we met at the FARMER-WAGGONER family reunion last week and we did a little remembering about when we both lived at Harrison and I went to school with her sister, the late Dorothy FARMER, at Eagle Height School a (and I also went tot Central Grade School at Harrison for one year). This lady who called me is one of the 12 children born to Benjamin Harrison and Mary Jan WHITE FARMER and she, Juanita FARMER FITZPATRICK and a sister, Dolly FARMER COPES of Olatha, Kansas are the only two left of the Reverend FARMER's family. Juanita lives in Yakima and her siblings, who have passed away are; Dessie, Ralph, Vernon, Dorothy, Jake, Eugene, L.D., Gerald, Connie, Leon and Emma Jean. Juanita is hoping to make a trip back to Marion and Boone County this year and talked to Jerry and Elva TABOR STONECIPHER at Yellville one night this week. She and Elva went to school together at Yellville.

Frank BLANTON of Flippin, Arkansas died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at his residence in Flippin. He was 51. He was born November 3, 1950 in Protem, Missouri the son of Floyd and Virginia CHORN BLANTON. On July 28, 1973 he married Janet Gayle Fredrick. Mr. BLANTON was the owner and fishing guide for Blanton's Guide Service. He had been a resident of Marion County since 1984. He was a member of the Independent Professional Guide Association. He started his own business in 1996 and was a guide on the White River for 18 years. Prior to guiding on the river, he worked in hospital and factory maintenance. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and designing web pages on the computer. Survivors include his wife Janet G. BLANTON of Flippin; daughter, Melissa HART of San Antonio, Texas; and one grandchild, Heaven HART. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas with Bob JOHNSON officiating. No visitation was scheduled. Burial was private. Harlin PIERSON of Fort Smith, Arkansas died Monday, September 16, 2002 at Medi-Homes Nursing Home in Fort Smith. He was 90. Mr. PIERSON was born June 19, 1912 at Oakland, Arkansas the son of John and Oma POPPLIN PIERSON. A lifetime resident of Flippin, Mr. PIERSON was a retired Superintendent of Bull Shoals State Park. He was a member of the Flippin Christian Church. Survivors include his daughter, Lynda WALKER and husband Steve of Fort Smith, Arkansas; sisters, Alma HAWKINS of Russellville, AR and Nina BLAKENEY of Fort Worth, TX; and three grandchildren, Valeria, Emily and Julie WALKER. His wife, Vernie MCCRACKEN PIERSON, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the Flippin Christian Church in Flippin, Arkansas with Russ DUNHAM officiating. She was the daughter of the late Nin and Electa WOOD of Yellville. Mrs. CLINE and her husband, Worth, moved to Brawley, CA in 1933, where they resided for 53 years. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on November 3, 2001. Mrs. Cline was a member of the First Methodist Church of Brawley, CA for many years. She and her husband moved to Simi Valley in 1986 to be near their son, Allen and his family. During his youth, he was raised in Oakland, Promiseland and Pot Shoals area. He was a Baptist by faith. He enjoyed horses, farming and ranching. Burial followed in the Georges Creek Cemetery in Yellville. Visitation was scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. His grandchildren served as pallbearers. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 26, 2002 issue: Services were held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary in Simi Valley, California for Amanda WOOD CLINE, 93, of Simi Valley, CA, who died at home following a lengthy illness. The Reverend Warren SORENSON officiated. Burial was at El Rancho Pioneer Cemetery in Simi Valley, CA. Mrs. CLINE was born in Yellville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Nin and Electa WOOD of Yellville. Mrs. CLINE and her husband, Worth, moved to Brawley, CA in 1933, where they resided for 53 years. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on November 3, 2001. Mrs. CLINE was a member of the First Methodist Church of Brawley, CA for many years. She and her husband moved to Simi Valley in 1986 to be near their son, Allen and his family. Survivors include her husband, Worth CLINE; son, Allen CLINE and wife Blanche of Simi Valley, CA; grandchildren, Donald CLINE of Rolling Hills Estates, CA and Michael CLINE of Chatsworth, CA; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Thelma WOOD of Nevada City, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 26, 2002 issue: Rescue workers from the Yellville and Pyatt Rural VFD work to remove the body from the wreckage of a pick-up truck that was struck by a semi at the intersection of Hwy. 125 and US 62 Tuesday evening. The identity of the driver of the pick-up had not been determined at press-time. Witnesses stated that the semi, driven by Michael Anthony GRITTINI of AuGres, Michigan was northbound on 125 and brakes on the fig failed to hold the truck on the hill approaching 62/412. GRITTINI apparently tried to swing the truck across the southbound lane and onto Hwy. 62 eastbound. The pick-up was stopped on 62 westbound at the intersection waiting to turn onto Hwy. 125 when the semi collided with the truck, causing the pick-up to burst into flames. GRITTINI was transported to NARMC in Harrison. The remains of the victim in the truck was sent tot he Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification. The accident was investigated by the Arkansas State Police and it currently under investigation.

Mountaineer Echo October 3, 2002 issue: Loretta M. MULLINS of Paragould, Arkansas died Monday, September 30, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. She was 70. Mrs. MULLINS was born June 16, 1932 in Zinc, Arkansas the daughter of Elmer and Gladys CAVINESS KELLEY. On December 26, 1945, she married Ralph MULLINS. Formerly of Summit, Arkansas, Mrs. MULLINS had lived in Paragould for the past three years. She was a Pentecostal Minister and member of the Summit Pentecostal Church of God in Summit. Survivors include her husband, Ralph MULLINS of Paragould; son, William "Bill" MULLINS and wife Betty of Summit; daughter, Judy DAVIS and husband Danny of Paragould; mother, Gladys KELLY of Yellville, AR; brothers, Joe KELLEY, Jimmy KELLEY and Dean KELLEY all of Summit and Danny KELLEY of Flippin, AR; sisters, Ella JOHNSON of Summit, Wanda LANGSTON of Truesdale, MO, Mary CANNON of Truesdale, MO, Eva KELLEY of Summit, AR, Joyce HERDON of Truesdale, Mo and Shirley SCARBERRY of Summit, AR; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her father, Elmer KELLEY, and son, James MULLINS, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Wednesday, October 2, 2002 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, AR. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summit Pentecostal Church of God in Summit with Brother David Schrable officiating. Burial will follow in Georges Creek Cemetery in Yellville. Pallbearers will be Clifford DECKER, Max BISHOP, Daniel DAVIS, Tommy DAVIS, Robby FORKUM and Darrel WICHERSHAM.
