Ethel E. BROWN, 89, Bull Shoals (Photo included with obit in newspaper) Ethel E. BROWN, 89, of Bull Shoals, passed away Oct, 1, 2000, at Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville. She was born November 14, 1910, at Porterville, CA, the daughter of Darius and Adah I. (DUNCAN) PRATT III. She was united in marriage to Asa Davis BROWN. She was a former resident of Bellflower, CA. Mrs. Brown was a retired accounting bookkeeper for a grocery company. She was Protestant, a member of the Bull Shoals Hospital Auxiliary, treasurer of Bull Shoals Booster Club 1977-1979, and a member of the Bull Shoals Library Friends. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth WAKEFIELD of Flippin, Frieda P. BROWN of Yellville, three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister. No visitation was held. Funeral services were private with interment at Fairview Cemetery. Glenn C. YANCHUNAS, 52, Yellville Glenn C. YANCHUNAS, 52, of Yellville, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2000. He was born May 11, 1948 at New York, NY., the son of Thomas W. and Harriett (ENGLER) MARTIN, Sr. He was united in marriage to his wife, Jamee (KARAKOS) Yanchunas, on June 21, 1984. He was a member of Yellville Church on the Rock, Marion County Farm Bureau, and Smith-Johnson VFW Post #5742 of Cotter. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was an avid supporter of Yellville-Summit School athletics and filmed the football games for several years. Survivors include his wife Jamee ; three sons, Glenn MARTIN, Jr., of CA., Adam and Flint YANCHUNAS, of Yellville; four daughters, Laurie ROSS of Stillwater, OK., Daphne, Jade, and Jasmine YANCHUNAS, of Yellville. Also surviving are his father, Thomas MARTIN, Sr., NY., one brother, Thomas MARTIN, Jr., Pennsylvania; one sister, Carolyn Tellez, BOTHEL, Washington; and three grandchildren. Visitation was held from 1 to 8 p.m., Oct. 6, at Burns Funeral Home. Funeral Services were held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. at Church on the Rock in Yellville with Terry Duffy and Howard Kisor officiating. Interment was in Rapture Meadow Cemetery. Article on page one Oct 12, 2000 issue: Fatal Accident in Baxter County: A 54-year old Vilonia resident, William M. MULLINS, died Oct 6 in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 178 in Lakeview. According to Arkansas State Trooper Joel Eubanks, the 3:19 p.m. accident occurred when a 1995 Volkswagen, occupied by Sushel K. CHAWLA, 66, and Patricia CHAWLA, 60, both of Greensboro, NC, crossed the centerline to avoid a stopped vehicle and struck Mullins' 1993 Dodge pickup head-on. The CHAWLAS sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. Trooper Eubanks noted that the CHAWLAS were both wearing seatbelts, while MULLINS was not.

Mr. MCCRACKEN was born June 8, 1906 at Flippin to Bunk and Quete POYNTER MCCRACKEN. Mr. MCCRACKEN was a retired, self-employed farmer. Survivors include one sister, Ella FERGESON of Harrison. His wife, Iva FOX MCCRACKEN; parents, Bunk and Quete MCCRACKEN; three brothers; and two sisters preceded him in death. Visitation was Tuesday, October 10, 2000 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Funeral services were Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home with Minister Jerry "Cub" Scott officiating. Burial followed at the Fairview Cemetery in Flippin. Charlie D. MCCRACKEN, 94, Yellville Charlie D. MCCRACKEN, 94, of Yellville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville. He was born June 8, 1906, at Flippin, the son of Bunk and Quete (POYNTER) MCCRACKEN. Mr. MCCRACKEN was united in marriage to Iva FOX, who preceded him in death on Aug. 18, 1976. He was a retired farmer. A sister, Ella FERGESON, of Harrison, survives him. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, and two sisters. Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, with Jerry "Cub" Scott officiating. Frank Louis ROSS, 77, Yellville Mr. Frank Louis ROSS, of Yellville, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2000, at the Baxter Regional Medical Center. He was 77. Mr. ROSS was born July 6, 1923, in Nuremberg, PA, to Monsweto and Josephine STERCHELE. He was a retired jewelry salesman. He had made his home in Yellville since 1993, relocating here from Arizona. Survivors include one daughter, Joan VIPPERMAN of Emmett Township, MI, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services and interment were private. He was born Dec. 29, 1980, at Madison, Wi., a son to Gary Raney and Mary (WALDSCHMIDT) GAWLINSKI. He was a former resident of Phoenix, Az., having moved to Yellville three months ago. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mary and Jeffrey GAWLINSKI of Phoenix, Az.; his father, Gary RANEY of Mollalla, Or., two brothers, Christopher and Joshua RANEY, both of Phoenix; a sister, Darla RANEY of Phoenix; his grandparents, Luther and Letha RANEY of Melbourne, Ar.; a niece, LaJanae RANEY of Phoenix, and many aunts and uncles. He was a member of the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church and had been a Methodist minister for several years. He attended DePawn University, N. E. Oklahoma State University, and the University of Arkansas. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was united in marriage to Madelyn Maxine KAYLOR on July 5, 1930, who preceded him in death on October 24, 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Ann HOLMAN, Sunberry, Pa., Sue Madelyn DOUGHERTY, Royalston, Ma.; one son, Robert Arthur DOUGHERTY, Knoxville, Pa., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, Marcella PETTY; and four brothers, Ralph, Hoyt, Robert and Wayne DOUGHERTY. She was a former resident of Alden, IL, having made her home in Bull Shoals in 1973. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bull Shoals, the Bull Shoals Hospital Auxiliary, Alden Hebron Grange Farm Organization and the Alden Community Club. She was Township Clerk and a church organist in Alden. She was a volunteer for the "Little Bit Used Shop." Survivors incude her husband, August, of the home; two sons, Rogert BOTTLEMY and wife Virginia of Genoa City, WI. John BOTTLEMY and wife Diana of Denver, CO,; one daughter, Nancy MELLMER and husband Darrell of Mercer, WI; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. No visitation was held. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Oct 24, at 2:00 pm at the United Methodist Church of Bull Shoals with Reverend Gary Goldman officiating. Interment was in Alden Cemetery. He was born December 20, 1921, at Rea Valley, the son of John and Donna (KEETER) HUDSPETH. He was united in marriage to Sadie H. OTT on January 29, 1943, who predeceased him on April 19, 1998. Mr. HUDSPETH was a retired farmer. He was a lifetime resident of Marion County, a member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, the American Legion, Farm Bureau and was a former Marion County Fair Board member. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include two sons, Dennis HUDSPETH and his wife Frances, of Yellville, Johnny HUDSPETH of Yellville; three daughters, Marilyn SPURLOCK and her husband Jim, of Huntsville, Skippy SHARP and her husband Donnie, of Yellville, and Lucy SHARP and her husband Rodney of Yellville. Other survivors are one sister, Lella Lee BILLUPS of Prestonsburg, Ky.; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. HUDSPETH was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one son, David "Butch" HUDSPETH, and two brothers. Visitation was held Sat. Oct. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home. News by Frankie Seay # 300: We lost another friend last week, Stella MCENTIRE, who was married to the late Herbert MCENTIRE for 35 years or so, passed away on the coast where her daughter lives. Herbert's first wife was Mabel JONES, the mother of his three children, and she and Herbert were natives of Marion County, but she passed away years ago. Stella was a nice lady.

Ulis L. CLINE, 89, Cedar Grove Ulis L. CLINE, 89, of the Cedar Grove community, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Twin Lakes Nursing Center Recuperative Care Unit. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Delle; two daughters, Peggy WHEELER of El Paso, Tx., Janice DAVIS and her husband, David of Bruno; a sister, Esther SCOTT of Yellville, and a sister Pauline of Austin of Bentonville. Mr. CLINE was born Nov. 30, 1910 near the Eros Community and was a lifelong resident of Marion County. His parents were Grover and Elvira (DODD) CLINE. He was a retired farmer and a highway maintenance worker. He was also a truck driver for the Arkansas Highway Department. He served for many years as a county committee member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He lived in the Cedar Grove Community since 1926 where he was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He will be missed by his many friends of the church and community and by all who knew him. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home, Sunday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services were held at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, with Pastor Doyle Berckefeldt official. Burial was in Georges Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilbur ROTENBERRY, Homer BLACK, Kenneth OXFORD, Tom PARKER, Tim PARKER, and Roger DUFFY. News, By Frankie Seay Nov 7 #304): Moleen CLINE got a letter from her friend Minnie MUSGROVE, along with a copy of an obituary for Ulis "Buge" CLINE, a cousin of Minnie and also Moleen's cousin by marriage. Ulis left a family which includes hi wife, Mary Dell, and two daughters, as well as sisters, Esther, Pauline and Alsie. He will be missed by many friends and relations, as he was known as one of the nicest kindest men you'd ever meet and his funeral at the Methodist Church at Georges Creek was proof of that, with the church full of people there to honor him and his family. He was raised at Georges Creek, the only son of Cleave and Vary CLINE, who preceded him in death, as did one sister, Faye. Our sympathy to the well-known family.

Ulis L. CLINE, 89, Cedar Grove Ulis L. CLINE, 89, of the Cedar Grove community, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Twin Lakes Nursing Center Recuperative Care Unit. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Delle; two daughters, Peggy WHEELER of El Paso, Tx., Janice DAVIS and her husband, David of Bruno; a sister, Esther SCOTT of Yellville, and a sister Pauline AUSTIN of Bentonville. Mr. CLINE was born Nov. 30, 1910 near the Eros Community and was a lifelong resident of Marion County. His parents were Grover and Elvira (DODD) CLINE. He was a retired farmer and a highway maintenance worker. He was also a truck driver for the Arkansas Highway Department. He served for many years as a county committee member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He lived in the Cedar Grove Community since 1926 where he was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He will be missed by his many friends of the church and community and by all who knew him. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home, Sunday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services were held at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, with Pastor Doyle Berckefeldt official. Burial was in Georges Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wilbur ROTENBERRY, Homer BLACK, Kenneth OXFORD, Tom PARKER, Tim PARKER, and Roger DUFFY. James Ray MARTIN, 59, Texas James Ray MARTIN, 59, of Fritch, Tx., passed away October 21, 2000, at Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, Tx. He was born July 8, 1941 at Norfork, Ar., the son of William B. and Helen M. (HICKS) MARTIN. Mr. Martin was united in marriage to Bonnie MELTON on Oct. 6, 1961, in Bruno. He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He was a Mason. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a boiler house technician. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one son, James Russell MARTIN of Lubbock, Tx.; two daughters, Diana Marie WILLIAMS of Lockesburg, Ar., Kathy Renee MOFFITT of Borger, Tx., one sister, Loretta Faye MARTIN of Bull Shoals, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was held Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Funeral services were held Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. He was born May 27, 1926 at St. Vincent, Mn., the son of Leo and Irene (FITZPATRICK) HOUSER. Mr. HOUSER was united in marriage to Doris BAHAN. He was a former resident of Lincoln, Il., having moved to Flippin in 1988. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. He was a retired maintenance engineer for PPG Industries. He was a veteran having served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris of the home; two daughters, Beth TURNER and husband Dana of St. Louis, Mo., Amy POWELL and husband Carl of Bloomington, Il.; two sons, Jim HOUSER of Lincoln, Il., Alan HOUSER of Lafayette, In.; three stepsons, Ron BRANAMAN and wife Garby of Lakeview, Randall BRANAMAN and wife Lynn of Flippin, and Richard BRANAMAN of Peoria, Il.; six sisters; and seven grandchildren. He was born July 19, 1926, in Chicago, IL, the son of Stuart and Marila (WHITTLE) STANDISH, Sr. Mr. STANDISH was united in marriage to Pauline BAXTER in 1963 at Elgin, IL. He was a former resident of Ontarioville, IL, having moved to Mountain Home in 1986. He was self-employed in outboard motor repair. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Mountain Home. Survivors include one son, Stuart STANDISH III, and wife RoseAnne of Hobart, IN; one daughter, Lydia STANDISH of Lombard, IL; two step-sons, Al BAXTER and wife Bonnie of Elgin, IL, Doug BAXTER and wife Eileen of Wonder Lake, IL; and one step-daughter, Marjorie BROWN and husband Ronald of Wheaton, IL. She was united in marriage to Thurman (WINCE) HURST, who preceded her in death on December 30, 1993. Mrs. HURST was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God. She is survived by one son, Doyle HURST and wife Martha of Flippin; one daughter, Kathryn Sue WILSON and husband Curtis of Winslow, AR; and one niece, Dianna Hall CRANOR of Gassville. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Sarah DAHL of Plano, TX, Nancy BISWELL of Winslow, and Kevin WILSON of Springdale; and four great-grandchildren.
