Larry JOHNSON, 49, Yellville Larry Johnson, 49, of Yellville, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 2, 2000. He was born on July 25, 1951, in Mountain Home, to Oliver and Lela (WICKERSHAM) JOHNSON. Mr. JOHNSON was a driller for the oil industry. He was a member of the Yellville First Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lela and Ulis JEFFERSON, of Yellville; his father, Oliver JOHNSON, of Gardenia, CA; two sons, Justin Lynn JOHNSON and James Corey JOHNSON, both of Yellville; one step-son, Jeremy JOHNSON, of Harrison; one step-daughter, Contessa JOHNSON, of Yellville; one sister, Vicky Lynn HARRIS, of Yellville; three step-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation was held Friday, August 4, at Burns Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services were held Saturday, August 5, at 2 p.m., at Burns Funeral Home, with Bro. Terry Duffy officiating. Roy E. BURROUGHS, 71, Flippin Roy E. BURROUGHS, 71, of Flippin, passed away August 2, 2000, in Tulsa, OK. He was born on September 2, 1928, at Osceola, AR, to Clyde and Ruby (LINDERMAN) BURROUGHS. Mr. BURROUGHS was united in marriage to Ruth STOBER. He was a retired machinist for (NaviStar) International Harvestor Tractor Company, having retired after 29 years of service. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army in Korea. He was a member of the Bull Shoals Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1341, AmVets, the Bull Shoals VFW Honor Guard, and a Union Stewart for UAW Local #6, Melrose Park, IL. Mr. Burroughs was a member of Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church in Bull Shoals. He is survived by his wife, Ruth BURROUGHS of Flippin; four sons, Richard "Buster" BURROUGHS, of Jackson, MS, Marion BURROUGHS, of Nashville, TN, Bill WEST, of Las Vegas, NE, Warren WEST, of Elgin, IL; three daughters, Denise BURROUGHS, Karen (His Right Hand) BENEDIX, both of Flippin, Thelma CRANE, of Brandon, MS; four brothers, one sister, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Alvin B. GRAY, Jr., 80, Texas Alvin B. GRAY, Jr., 80, of Pittsburg, TX, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at East Texas Medical Center, Pittsburg, TX. He was born October 17, 1919, at Marcella, AR, the son of Alvin B. GRAY, Sr. and Nellie (YOUNGER) GRAY. Mr. GRAY was employed as the Material Superintendent for Brown and Root, Inc. and retired in 1982. He was not a veteran because of blindness in one eye and always regretted he was unable to serve his country. He took great pride in his son's career as a military pilot. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; one son, Jerry Lynn GRAY and his wife, Ginger; three daughters, Sharon Kay DRISKELL and husband, Victor, Beverly Ann CASEY and husband, Russell, Carol CARTWRIGHT and husband, Larry; nine grandchildren, Jerry L. GRAY, Jr., Shannon B. GRAY, Kelly L. CASEY, Marion D. STRALENER, Cathleen GRAY KORTE, Todd MCELMURRY, Mark MCELMURRY, Rick MCELMURRY, Tracy GERSTNER, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his first wife, Vardie (AVEY) Gray. Donald Wayne KADING, 76, Batesville Donald Wayne KADING, 76, of Batesville, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2000, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born December 5, 1923, he was the son of Arthur KADING and Caroline MOWRY KADING. He attended Southside Assembly of God, enjoyed playing golf at the Batesville Country Club, graduated from the Meno, Iowa High School, and was a founding member of the 5 x 80 Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia MAINS KADING; one son, Stanley KADING of Casey, IA; three daughters, Jane Van BOSKIRK, of Yellville, Peggy MEITZEN of Batesville, and Donna MULLIS of Plano, TX. Other survivors include three brothers, Earl KADING and Eugene KADING, both of Stuart, IA, and Merle KADING of Perry, IA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Van BOSKIRK, Tammy and James GRAHAM, Tim and Carma MEITZEN, Bob and Kate MEITZEN, Ash and Alex KADING, Sarah and Megan MULLIS and one great-grandchild, Cody MEITZEN. Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 14 at 10 a.m. at the Southside Assembly of God, with Rev. Kenneth Mayo officiating. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Tim MEITZEN, Cpl. Melvin Rodger SPRADLIN, 64, of Grassville, passed away on Aug 10, 2000 at his residence. He was born on Sep 10, 1935 at Morning Start, AR, the son of Quinton and Emily (BROWN) SPRADLIN. He was united in marriage to Margaret HONEY on June 12, 1982. He was a self employed Herbalist. He was a member of the Lions club and Free Cherokee. He was formerly from TX and he and his wife made their home in Grassville for 13 years. Mr. SPRADLIN is survived by his wife; Margaret, of Grassville; four sons, Quinton Joshua SPRADLIN, of Grassville, Dutch Walton SPRADLIN, of Grassville, Rocky SPRADLIN, of AL, David SPRADLIN of Iowa; two daughters, Debbie SPRADLIN and Cindy SPRADLIN, both of NC; two brothers, Elvis SPRADLIN and ED SPRADLIN both of Flippin; two sisters, Claudia DAVIS and Mary SPRADLIN, both of CA; and 11 grandchildren. Bill A. BLANCHARD, 81, Bull Shoals Bill A. BLANCHARD, 81, of Bull Shoals, passed away August 14, 2000, at Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin. He was born on August 5, 1919, at El Reno, OK, the son of Jessie and Mary (BARTLETT) BLANCHARD. Mr. BLANCHARD was a former resident of Hudson, KS, having made his home in Bull Shoals in 1993. He was joined in marriage to Mary NAPP on August 5, 1976, at Godfrey, IL. He was Protestant. Prior to retirement he was a mechanical engineer for Stafford Co. Flour Mills. Mr. BLANCHARD was a University of Oklahoma graduated and played football at the university. He was a member of the Association of Operative Millers and the Alton, IL Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1308. He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Danna WALKER and husband Lynn, of Colorado Springs, CO, Phyllis SILLS and husband John, of Manhattan, KA, and Terri TINDAL of Divide, CO. Also surviving are one brother, Ernest Leroy BLANCHARD, of Amarillo, TX, one sister, Ernestine KELTER, of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. A memorial service will be held August 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals. Carol F. MCPHERSON, 56, Mountain Home Carol FLEMING MCPHERSON, 56, of Mountain Home, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 16, 2000. She was born December 1, 1943, in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Pearl (WILSON) HOLKER. She was a licensed practical nurse, a civil process server, a caregiver, and a rancher. She was united in marriage to Major L. MCPHERSON. Mrs. MCPHERSON enjoyed working and cooking. She was a wonderful grandmother and enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her grandchildren. She was a former resident of Diamond Bar, CA, having made her home in Mountain Home since 1976. She is survived by two sons, Thomas H. FLEMING Jr. and wife Alice E. of Pensacola, FL, Timothy D. FLEMING and wife Lynette of Viola; and one daughter, Janet ANDERSON and Lynn of Yellville. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Christopher, Hope, Joshua, Daniel, Levi, and Taylor; six sisters, Lavonne HOLDREN and husband, Robert of Corning, IA, Darlene CROSS and husband, William of Bedford, IA, Lola JOHNSTON of Knoxville, IA, Belva Dean DAY and husband, Robert, of Mountain Home, Delores HILL and husband, Jack, of Corning, IA, Cheryle HEAD and husband, Carl, of Mountain Home, and lifetime friend, Roy Ray GRIFFIN of Fort Collins, CO. Also surviving Mrs. MCPHERSON are several nieces and nephews, and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Doyle, and one niece. Stephen B. LEAVITT, D.MD, 81, Flippin Stephen Bartlett LEAVITT, D.MD, 81, of Flippin, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home. He was born March 24, 1919, at New Bedford, MA, the son of Percy Mylan and Susan Maybel (BROWN) LEAVITT. He was united in marriage to Pearl BUTMAN on October 21, 1961. Dr. LEAVITT was a dentist practicing general dentistry in Boston, MA for 30 years. He was a former resident of New Bedford, MA and relocated to this area about one and one-half years ago. He was a member of Grace Sovereign Baptist Church in Summit, and a member of Bunker Hill Monument Association. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents. No visitation was held. A praise service will be conducted in his honor at a later date. Charles Calvin HEATON, 67, of Fairview died Aug 21 at his residence. He was born Sep 17, 1932, at Ada, Okla., the sone of Calvin and Cleo (JACKSON) HEATON. He married Mary Francis MOORE on Dec 5, 1967. She survives him. Mr HEATON was a former instrument technician for Marathon Oil Company, a life member of the V.F.W., a member of the V.F.W. Post 9978 in Anchorage, Alaska, a member of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and an active member of the community. He served with the US Army in Korea as a member of Company D, 56 Amphibious Tank Track Battalion. In addition to his wife, other survivors include a son, Steve Lewis Dunphy HEATON of Beebe; a brother Jimmy Ray HEATON of Seligman, Mo.; two sisters, Betty HUNTSMAN of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mary Sue QUINTANA of Mariette, Okla., 14 nieces and nephews; his best friend, Larry JENSEN; and several other close friends. Services were held Aug 25 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell, TX.
Peggy C SHARP, 64, of Yellville died Aug. 22 at Baxter Regional Medical Center at Mountain Home. She was a homemaker, born Dec. 15, 1935, at Oppelo, Ark, to Ervin and Juanita MITCHELL RUDKIN. She married R J "Bob" SHARP Dec 25, 1952. He survives her. Other survivors are a son, Michael A "Tony" SHARP and his wife Marie of Fontanta, CA; a daughter Robyn ARCHEY and her husband Steve of Yellville; three brothers, Bill RUDKIN of Mabelvale, Ark, Bryon RUDKIN of Brazoria, TX and Randy RUDKIN of West Palm Beach, FL; and five grandchildren, Jake SHARP, Kristyn JONES, Carole REYNOLDS and Chris & Jeff KRUSE. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Services were held Aug 24 at Yellville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Philliber and Rev. Tim Cypert officiating. Burial was in Layton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jake SHARP, Chris KRUSE, Jeff KRUSE, Derek RUDKIN, Christ RUDKIN and Greg RUDKIN. Honorary pallbearers were Tony SHARP, Steve ARCHEY and David JONES. Mrs. SHARP was a member of the Yellville First Baptist Church, Christian Women Society, Yellville First Baptist Heart-To-Heart Organization, was a Sunday school teacher at the church and at LifeLine Baptist Church in Mabelvale.
