The Mountaineer Echo February 7, 2002 issue: Arlie STONECIPHER, age 94 of Harrison, AR died Saturday February 2, 2002 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison. Visitation was from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Holt Memorial Chapel. Services were at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Pyatt Baptist Church with Bro. Carl HUDDLESTON, Bro. James HARMON, and Bro. Tommy TURNER officiating. Burial was in Patton Cemetery at Pyatt. Pallbearers were Rick CRUNKLETON, Fred EVANS, Freddie WELCH, Arlis STONECIPHER, Jerry PARSLEY, and Franklin SMITH. Honorary Pallbearers were nephews and great nephews. He was born July 21, 1907 in Marion County, a son of James Franklin and Carrie WATERS STONECIPHER. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lena KELLY STONECIPHER, his second wife, Elizabeth Rose BROWN STONECIPHER, one brother, and three sisters. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Oletha and Allen UNDERWOOD of Cowiche, WA, Shirley and Joe BLANKENSHIP of Eros and Faye and Wayne CRUNKLETON of Everton; stepson Haskell BROWN of Harrison; stepdaughter, Rosemary ELAM and her husband, Bill of Yellville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Audrice STONECIPHER of Olvey and Von and Vernie STONECIPHER of Tieton, WA; sisters, Millie PARSLEY an her husband Lewis of Lead Hill Ns Obeta SMITH of Siloam Springs; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Arlie was a Christian man and was a member of Pyatt Baptist Church where he served as a Treasurer and taught Sunday School classes. Upon moving to the Boone County area in 1975, he joined Eagle Heights Baptist Church. He was a farmer and loved his family very much.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley news by Frankie Seay, Week of February 14, 2002 Issue: Another death occurred in one of the older Arkansas families when Arlie STONECIPHER passed away at the Harrison hospital at the age of 94 on Saturday, February 2, 2002. Arlie was born and raised in the Pyatt area of Marion County and was fortunate to be able to stay in his home until his death. The family certainly has our sympathy in the loss of Arlie and especially since we just heard of the death of Shirley's husband, Joe BLANKINSHIP of Eros, who passed away on February 4, 2002, just two days after she lost her father.

Tobe E. Daffron of Flippin, Arkansas died Monday, February 4, 2002 at the Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin, Arkansas. He was 78. Mr. Daffron was born January 31, 1924 at Flippin, Arkansas the son of Rupert and Ruth Cornell Daffron. On August 31, 1946, he married Edna Johnson. Mr. Daffron was a farmer and rancher and former owner of the Mountain Home Livestock Auction. He was a member of the Flippin First Baptist Church, member of the National Cattlemen's Association, Kansas Livestock Association, Arkansas Cattlemen's Association, Marion County Cattlemen's Association and the Marion County Farm Bureau. He was one of the founders of the Citizens Bank in Flippin. He operated the Flippin Sale Barn from 1947 to 1967 and then owned and operated the Mountain Home Livestock Sale Barn from 1967 to 1987. Mr. Daffron was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army. Survivors include his wife, Edna Johnson Daffron; two sons, Joe Daffron of Mountain Home, AR and Steve Daffron of Flippin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents, Rupert and Ruth Daffron, and one sister, Guyla, preceded him in death. Visitation was held Wednesday, February 6, 2002 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Flippin with Brother Steve Martin and Brother Glen Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Flippin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Daffron, Kevin Daffron, Jason Copeland, Richard Daffron, Doug Davis, Lonnie Nicholson, Johnny Mac Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Bill Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will include Lyle Wood, Forrest Wood, Miles Pangle, Clarence Wooton, Rudy Johnston, James O. Johnson, Fay Zeigler, Ulane Chaney and all of the employees, past and present, of the Mountain Home Livestock Auction. Vernon Joe Blankenship of Eros, Arkansas died Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at North Arkansas Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. He was 67. Mr. Blankenship was born December 3, 1934 in Marion County, Arkansas the son of Carl G. and Floriene Burleson Blankenship. On January 17, 1954, he married Shirley Stonecipher. Mr. Blankenship was a self-employed dairy farmer. He was a member oF the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville, member of the Marion County Farm Bureau, USDA Co-Op Board, Eros Community Board, Marion County Extension Board, Bruno-Pyatt Booster Club members and a Bruno-Pyatt basketball fan. Survivors include his wife Shirley Stonecipher Blankenship; daughter, Karen Welch and husband Fred of Eros; two grandchildren; and one step-grandchild. His parents, Carl G. and Floriene Blankenship, preceded him in death. Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2002 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville with Minister Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Bruno Cemetery. The Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Feb7, 2002 issue: The body of a 16 year-old Bull Shoals teen was found dead from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning Tuesday, February 5, at the end of a rural gravel road near Bull Shoals. According to Marion County Sheriff Carl MCBEE, foul play is not suspected. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. The body was found inside a vehicle that had a garden hose taped to the exhaust pipe and routed into the vehicle.

Lew Elizabeth WARREN of Yellville, Arkansas died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville. She was 100. Mrs. Warren was born September 14, 1901 in Oklahoma the daughter of John and Lilly LEWIS SCOTT. Mrs. WARREN was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. Survivors include her sons, Charles WARREN of Yellville, AR and Dale WARREN of Wichita, KS; daughters, Flossie WARREN of Newport, AR, Edna SLAGLEY, Ruth PAXTON, Joan JOHNSON and Helen PAXTON all of Yellville, AR, Betty ALBERTS of House Springs, MO, Mary ROGERS of Harrison, AR, Fay FEGUSON of Nacogdoches, TX, Mary Ellen TAYLOR of Wichita, KS and Wella Dean SIDES of Gilmer, TX: sixty grandchildren; seventy-eight great-grandchildren; and numerous great great-grandchildren. Her husband, Charley WARREN, and daughters, Velma and Joyce, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Sunday, February 10, 2002 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. Week of March 7, 2002: The Yakima Herald carried the obituary for Carolyn Jean EGGERS FLOYD who passed away on February 13th in North Carolina. Carolyn was born October 2, 1948 in Yakima to Robert and Bonnie HONEYCUTT EGGERS and was raised and educated at Cowiche, Washington, graduating from Highland High School. She worked for the Naches Forest Service and the Yakima Training Center for 16 years and was married to Mickey FLOYD in 1969. Carolyn had roots in Marion County through her mother, Bonnie HONEYCUTT, who was born and raised there, a daughter of the late Horace HONEYCUTT, and that would make Carolyn a granddaughter to Horace and a great granddaughter to the late Bob HONEYCUTT who I remember living around Pyatt when I lived there in the mid 1930's. Carolyn was also a niece of my friend Konith HONEYCUTT who lives in the Lead Hill area and is one of her survivors. Also surviving Carolyn are two daughters, Michelle LANTS and Heather WALKER (both of Yakima) and three grandchildren, Haley, Katlyn, and Christopher LANTS, her mother, Bonnie HONEYCUTT LEASE, a brother James DEWEESE of Phoenix, Arizona and her former husband Mickey FLOYD of Selah. Our sympathy to all of her family. She was buried at Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima.

DeVera Mae RICHTER of Peel DeVera Mae Richter of Peel, Arkansas died Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. She was 73. Mrs. Richter was born October 18, 1928 at Newton, Kansas the daughter of Jonas and Rosa WILHELIMA SEEHAVER KREHBIEL. She was raised in Mound Ridge, Kansas where she graduated from school. On June 24, 1951 in Ellinwood, Kansas, she married Reverend Robert F. Richter, Jr. They pastored churches in St. Joseph and Columbia, Missouri and also California. Mrs. Richter was a private music teacher and a loving mother. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Springfield, Missouri and the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Society, P.E.O. Survivors include her husband, Reverend Robert F. RICHTER, Jr., daughters, Carole BEREN of Los Angelos, CA and Becky RICHTER of Palo Alto, CA; and granddaughters, Emma and Lily BEREN and Terrell and Hart ROSENBERG. Her parents, Jonas and Rose KREHBIEL, son, Robert F. RICHTER, III, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Yellville First Presbyterian Church. No visitation was scheduled and burial was private. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley news by Frankie Seay, Week of February 14, 2002 Issue: Our Yakima Herald today carried the obituary for Velda JACKSON who was born at Rogers, Arkansas to Walter and Celia STILL SHEARER. She was raised and educated in Arkansas and married Lloyd JACKSON in 1935. They lived there until moving to Yakima in 1944 where she worked as a fruit packer here in the valley for many years while Lloyd also worked in the fruit. Lloyd passed away here in 1998 and Velda continued living in their home at Gleed. She is survived by her daughter, Iva DOSHIER and husband Gene, of Selah, and her son Howard and his wife Patsy of Yakima as well as nine grand and great grandchildren, three brothers and fives sisters. Velda is also survived by a brother-in-law and his wife, Stanley and Genevieve JACKSON of Yakima. The JACKSON family was raised in the Maumee area, all musicians, and all well thought of in Arkansas as well as here and none were more loved and respected than Velda. I've known her close to 50 years and never saw her without a smile and a good word for everyone. Her surviving family certainly has my sympathy. She will be buried at the Wenas Pioneer Cemetery out of Selah.

Nina Gail BOHANNON of Flippin Nina Gail Bohannon of Flippin, Arkansas died Friday, February 15, 2002 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was 46. Mrs. Bohannon was born November 7, 1955 at Yellville, Arkansas the daughter of Ira Albert and Gladys Irene BURKS HUDSON. On July 28, 1972, she married Bill BOHANNON. She was a former Teacher's Aide for the Flippin School District and member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Flippin. Survivors include her husband, Bill BOHANNON; daughter, Chasadee BRIGHT of Lowell, Arkansas; three brothers, Karldon and wife Coyla Hudson, Karl and wife Rose and Toney and wife Marsha all of Flippin; three nieces and four nephews. Her parents, Ira Albert and Gladys Irene HUDSON, preceded her in death. Visitation was held Monday, February 18, 2002 at Burns Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Flippin with Reverend Gail Wooten and Reverend Bill Rawling officiating. She is survived by sons Gayle O. of Dallas; Cletes O. (Tex) of Dallas; James O. (Jim) of Arlington, and daughter Fern BESHEARS CROMER of Grand Prairie. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grand children and 27 great-great-grandchildren. He was employed in the Maintenance Department at Ranger Boats. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, VFW and a Baptist by faith. Survivors include his sons, James C. DRUMMOND of Flippin, Paul E. DRUMMOND of Flippin and Randy C. DRUMMOND of Harrison, Arkansas; two daughters, Debbie ADAMS of Grand Isle, Louisiana and Tena PAYNE of Wyoming; five sisters, RUBY Green, Ruth CARNE, Nora ELLIS, Audre WILSON and Dorothy DRUMMOND all of Ferriday, Louisiana; twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren. He was 69. Mr. SCHULTZ was born June 15, 1932 at Indianapolis the son of Oscar and Edith EDWARDS SCHULTZ. On July 8, 1958 at Robinson, Illinois, he married Dixie CODY. Mr. Schultz moved to Yellville from Spring Hill, Kansas in September 1994, after retiring as a tool and die maker. Survivors include his wife, Dixie SCHULTZ of the home; one son Tim SCHULTZ of Kansas City, Kansas; one daughter Tina SCHULTZ of Crawfordsville, Indiana; one brother, Jim SCHULTZ of Zionsville, Indiana; two sisters, Carol BRANSTETTER and Jackie CRUMM both of Crawfordsville, Indiana; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. CAIN was born March 20, 1934 at San Fernando, California the daughter of Robin LeRoy and Ollie Katherine CROMER RICH. On August 2, 1952, she married Kenneth J. CAIN. Mrs. CAIN resided in Marion County for the past three years moving from Oroville, California. She was employed as a bank teller. She loved her time spent with her family and enjoyed watching movies. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth J. CAIN; sons, John J. CAIN of Tabuya, Washington, Kurt CAIN of Yellville and Robert CAIN of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Robin RICH of Oroville, CA and Douglas RICH of Vancouver, WA; sisters, Carol FERRIS and Katherine MEYERS of Oroville, CA; and two grandchildren, Kevin J. and Amanda L. KELLY of Gassville Clinton Edward KELLY, 89, of Gassville, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born in Ohio on October 12, 1912. Formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. KELLY had been a resident of Gassville since 1998. He was employed in sporting goods and clothing sales. He was a Catholic by faith. Survivors include his daughters, Barbara TYSON of Gassville and Carol ANDERSON of Flippin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. No visitation was scheduled and funeral services were private. Burial was in the All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Boaz Funeral Directors of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

The Mountaineer Echo in the Yakima Valley news by Frankie Seay. February 28, 2002 issue: Another former Marion County resident, Lucian "Slick" WOODS, died here Saturday at the age of 85. He was born in Yellville. His wife Blanche, died a little over a year ago. His survivors includes his sons, Tom of Yakima and Keith of Underwood, WA, ten grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. Lucian was buried in Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima. Our sympathy to his family.
