Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley News by Frankie Seay, Week of July 4, 2002 issue: Our Echo this week (we get it a week later here) carried the obituaries of two old friends, once a classmate. Bobby LEFEVERS was in my class at Yellville-Summit 1938 to 1942 and was such a quiet, nice boy, and smart. The main thing I remember about Bobby was that the two of us were never "spelled down" in our class. We finally had to call it a draw. I could always spell, but Bobby was smart in so many other things that I certainly wasn't. I guess our spelling class was my only claim to fame, but Bobby was "all around" smart. It seems a shame that the only time we hear from old friends is when they pass away, but that's the way it is most of the time. We only have memories left and we're fortunate when they are good memories, and mine of Bobby are. I never knew his daughters but they have my sympathy in their loss.
Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley News by Frankie Seay, Week of July 4, 2002 issue: The other obituary was that of Guila DOSHIER who I knew for so many years. Her daughter Sheila and my son Gary started kindergarten and first grade together at Yellville in 1951 and 1952. I haven't seen her in so many years, but I always knew she was there and that's one more loss to get used to. She was such a friendly, outgoing person and will truly be missed. My sympathy to Howard and Sheila and the rest of the family.
Mountaineer Echo Newspaper, Yakima Valley News by Frankie Seay, Week of July 4, 2002 issue: Just before mail-time, I received a call telling of the death of another former Marion County man, Roy KEETER, who passed away June 23rd at the age of 94, in Tulare, California. Roy was a brother of Mary Neva CAVANESS and Flossie PLY and a brother, Leamon KEETER who has passed away. My sympathy to all the family.

The Mountaineer Echo Week of August 1, 2002 issue: The Marion County Sheriff's Department responded to an early morning 911 call on Friday, July 26 concerning a house fire in the Pine Mountain community of Marion County at the residence of Richard and Margaret QUINN. The QUINN's residence is located on Marion County Road 8094. Upon arrival, QUINN told investigators that he awoke and smelled smoke in the house and asked his wife, Margaret, to get her sister out of the upstairs area of the house. QUINN attempted to put the fire out with a water hose, but was not successful. QUINN went to a neighbor's house at approximately 3:50 a.m. and called 911 for assistance. When he returned to his residence, it was engulfed in flames and the structure was collapsing. The residence was a two-story log home with a full basement underneath. After the structure cooled down, recovery workers located and removed the bodies of Margaret QUINN, 63, and her sister, Mary PAYTON, 67, from opposite ends of the home. PAYTON was visiting from Roseland, New Jersey. Both bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab in Little Rock for autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Members of the Summit, Lakeway and Pine Mountain Rural Fire Departments performed Firefighting and recovery efforts. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Department. Marion County Sheriff Carl MCBEE said, "I would like to thank Sheriff CHAPLAIN, Jim RALEY, all of the citizens of Marion County and the Ladies Auxiliary of the fire departments who provided words of comfort to the family and nourished the firefighters during the recovery efforts."
