Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 6, 2007 issue: Betty Sue DUFRESNE, age 68, of Summit, Arkansas died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mrs. DUFRESNE was born June 30, 1939 at Yellville, Arkansas the daughter of Robert and Mamie Ellen POPE WOOD. She was a homemaker and a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Summit. Survivors include her son of Yellville, AR; two daughters and their husbands one of Yellville, AR and one of Bergman, AR; a sister of Summit, AR; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband Henry, Sr., daughter Elizabeth, four brothers, one sister and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville on Monday, September 3, 2007 from 6-8 pm. Services were conducted at Burns Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leo Dye officiating. Pallbearers were present. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 13, 2007 issue: Larry D. BALDRIDGE age 65, of Yellville, Arkansas, died Sunday, September 2, 2007 in the Loma Linda California. Mr. BALDRIDGE was born April 17, 1942 in Rush, Arkansas the son of Eddie And Bernice HALL BALDRIDGE. He was a 1960 graduate of Yellville-Summit High School. He was a heavy equipment operator and a welder for 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965 on the USS Stoddard. He served in the Vietnam War and the Bay of Pigs. On May 26 1975, he was married. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; two daughters and their husbands one of Bella Vista, AR and one of Yellville, AR; a son of Yellville, AR; two brothers both of Yellville, AR; and five grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Monday, September 10, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas with Rev. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 13, 2007 issue: Denver Allen JONES, age 39 of Flippin, Arkansas died September 10, 2007 at his home. A gathering of family and friends will be Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wayne Wood officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. JONES was born June 29, 1968 at Portland, Oregon to Bruce Victor and Mrs. JONES. On Valentine's Day in 1992, he was married at Calico Rock. Mr. JONES and his family moved to Flippin two years ago. He enjoyed anything related the outdoors including fishing, cutting wood in his earlier years, and caring for farm animals. He worked at the Rand Rodeo at Dolph from the time he was in the Fourth Grade until his graduation. He also rode in rodeos. He loved his family and was very proud of his boys. Survivors include his wife of 15 years of the home; four sons one of Violet Hill, three of the home in Flippin, AR; mother of Flippin, AR; grandmother of Mountain Home, AR; and brother of Jordan. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 13, 2007 issue: David Vernon BOSTIAN, died September 6, 2007 in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born October 17, 1922 in Morrilton, Arkansas to D. H. and X. C. BOSTIAN. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science at the University of Arkansas in Fayettville. Mr. BOSTIAN served in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII. He retired as Agricultural Extension Agent from the University of Arkansas. He worked in Washington, Logan Faulkner, Van Buren, Sharp and Marion counties. He worked as a loan officer at Mercantile bank in Summit and Flippin, AR. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World and the Lions Club. He was a cattle rancher for many years and severed as president of the Marion County Cattlemen's Association. Survivors include his three sons one of Mulberry, AR, one of Springdale, AR and one of Prairie Grove, AR and their mother of Morrilton, AR; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. His son, David Bruce BOSTIAN, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday, September 10, 2007 at the Methodist Church in Yellville, Arkansas at 11:00 a.m. Visitation was one hour prior to service. Committal services were held Monday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Campground Cemetery at Overcup, near Morrilton, AR. A memorial gathering will take place immediately following the committal services at the Overcup Community Building. Nicholas Lascaro officiating. Mrs. TAYLOR died September 7, 2007 at Mountain Home. She was 82. She was born July 19, 1925 in Colorado to James and Sarah Elizabeth WILLIAMS BAILEY. She was a retired telephone operator for Pacific Bell Telephone Company. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington, California, until she moved to Yellville,, Arkansas two months ago. She was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her daughter of Yellville, AR; two sisters, one of Newport Beach, CA and one of Huntington Beach, CA. He was born March 21, 1932 in Cotter, Arkansas to John Albert and Willie Bernice TRIMBLE DEATHERAGE. Mr. DEATHERAGE married Cora Lee KIRKLAND December 7, 1954 in Mountain Home. She preceded him in death December 16, 2003. He was a retired automotive mechanic. Survivors include his two sons one of Ozark, AR and one of Marshall, AR; two daughtersone of Flippin, AR and one of Paragould, AR; a sister of Gassville, AR; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 27, 2007 issue: Robert "Bob" E. CRAIN, age 79, died September 8, 2007. He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Charles L. and Rebecca EARLE CRAIN. In 1939, he moved with his mother and stepfather, George T. GUYTON, to northern Arkansas where he worked on the family farm and ranch. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy. He honorably served his country during and after WWII. He was stationed in Okinawa. Later he spent several months on the U. S. Carter Hall (LSD-3) in the Pacific and in harbor in Shanghai, China. After he was honorably discharged in 1946, he returned home and went back to school and graduated in 1947 from the Yellville-Summit High School in Yellville, Arkansas. In 1947, he married his high school sweetheart. The couple had six children, four sons and two daughters. In 1949 the couple moved back to Oklahoma where he stated his 35-year career in trucking industry. In 1984, he retired from H.J. Jeffries Daily Express as Director of Operations. After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the country. Mr. CRAIN was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints for over 40 years. Survivors include his wife; four sons; two daughters; 32 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 10:00 a.m. at 12915 South Santa Fe & Moore, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 13, 2007 issue: David Jones HAMBLETON died Sunday September 9, 2007 at 8:15 p.m. He was born at home in Roxana Illinois on November 11, 1926 to William Charles and Myrtle JONES HAMBLETON. On October 31, 1970, he was married in Joliet, Illinois. After serving in the US Navy during WWII, he began his working career at Shell Oil Refinery in Roxana, Illinois. Following in his father's footsteps he became active in Local 660 of the Machinist Union in East Alton Illinois. In 1970 he moved to Joliet Illinois and became a Traveling Grand Lodge Auditor for the Union. In 1975 he moved to Silver Springs Maryland and began a career working for the International Headquarters for the IAM. David retired in 1989 as the General Secretary Treasurer for the International Association of Machinist and Aerospaceworkers. He and his wife moved to Bull Shoals Arkansas later that year. He was a very dedicated member of the Bull Shoals Theater, VFW, Bull Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, and Rotary. He was an active member of the community of Christ church in Mountain Home Arkansas. Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters and their husbands two of Brighton, IL, one Roxana, IL and one of Alton, IL; a son of Dingmans Ferry, PA; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a loving brother. He was a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Elizabeth HAMBLETON and an infant brother William Charles HAMBLETON. Visitation was from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 11, 2007 and from 12:00-100 p.m. on Wednesday September 12, 2007. Funeral Services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday September 12, 2007 at Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services in Bull Shoals Arkansas with Elders Lois Jean Brooks and Gary Epps officiating. Mrs. CHATELAIN was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on June 2, 1926, the daughter of Wilford and Jeanne ARSENEAUX MATTHEWS. On June 30, 1941, she married Ralph Edward CHATELAIN. Ray and Rose moved to the Ozark area to raise their children in 1966. They developed the Whit River Ranchettes. They donated two acres of land to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission creating the Ranchette Access off of Hwy. 101. After selling the Ranchettes, Mrs. CHATELAIN moved to Yellville, Arkansas. Survivors include her two sons one of Houston, TX and one of Flippin, AR; three daughters one of Colbert, OK, one of Little Rock, AR and one of Cabot, AR; a brother of New Orleans, LA; a sister of Lafayette, LA; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Monday, September 7, 1007 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Andy Freeman officiating. CARRUTHERS of Lakeview, Arkansas was held Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 12:00 P.M. at Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mark Lenneville officiating. Mrs. CARRUTHERS died September 13, 2007 at her residence. She was 84 years old. She was born December 26, 1922 at London, England to Bernard and Madeline ISAAC. She fell in love and married Wilfred CARRUTHERS. She and her husband Wilfred moved to the area in 1974. She was an avid reader and a friend of the Bull Shoals Library. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Eileen held position of elder and deacon in the Bull Shoals Presbyterian Church. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Survivors include her two sons one of Houston, TX and one of Toronto Canada; two granddaughters one of Houston, TX and one of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren of Houston, TX; a niece of London, England; and special friend of the family of Ft. Mr. HADZIMA died Wednesday, September 18, 2007 in Bull Shoals at the age of 83. He was born May 16 1924, in Hammond, Indiana to John and Veronica HADZIMA. He was married in October of 1991. He was a service station owner in the oil industry. He worked hard his whole life, loved his family, and would help anyone in need. He was a member of the Christian Church. Survived by his wife of Bull Shoals, AR; two sons one of West Chicago, IL; one of Bull Shoals, AR; one daughter of Fort Worth, TX; one stepson of Lufkin, TX; one stepdaughter of Stafford, KS; ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved every aspect of it, hunting, fishing and camping. He was a Christian and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Towenson, OK, two daughters and their husbands one of Pyatt, AR and one of Harrison, AR; a son of Harrison, AR; a brother Pindall, AR; three granddaughters; and mother and father-in-law of Kankakee, IL. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of September 27, 2007 issue: Don Francis FLOWERS died September 23, 2007 at his home. He was 72 years old. He was born in San Francisco, California to DeLyle Sayers and Sarah FLOWERS. He was married on November 27, 1975 at Millbrae, California. Mr. FLOWERS was the owner of a successful electrical contracting business in South San Francisco and is still operated by his two sons. He was a USA Army Veteran. He moved to Bull Shoals in 1992 from San Carlos, California because of the love for the area and Bull Shoals Lake. He loved boating and sking and most water sports. He and his wife loved to travel and did so until he was unable to do so. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Survivors include his wife of Bull Shoals, AR; two sons and their wives; three grandsons; two granddaughters all of Burlingame, CA; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
