Ms. RICHARDS died Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Mountain Home. She was 65. Ms. RICHARDS was born December 5, 1941 at St. Joseph, Missouri to Herman and Mrs. BROWN. She was a retired Secretary having moved to Mountain home in 2004 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. She enjoyed outdoor activities especially camping and fishing, circle word puzzles and gardening. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Yellville. Survivors include her daughter and her husband of Flippin, AR; her mother of Ottumwa, Iowa; nine grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters. There was a reception at the Living Word Church after the committal service at the cemetery. Mrs. LACK was born March 13, 1923, at Charleston, West Virginia, to Henry and Cora Lee WITT WELLMAN. She married the late Eugen LACK on June 20, 1946 at Old Buffalo, AR. She was a schoolteacher. Mrs. LACK lived in Flippin moving from West Virginia in 1944. She was a member of the Living Word Church. Survivors include her son of Phoenix, AZ; daughters; one of Mountain Home, AR, two of Flippin, AR; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, two of Flippin, AR; one of Greenbriar, AR; and a sister-in-law of Norfork, AR. Mr. PERDUE was born July 13, 1955 to Stanley and Jean PERDUE at Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was employed as a long distance truck driver. Formerly of the Cape Girardeau, he moved to Bull Shoals in 2003. He was a social member of the Hoevel-Barnett Veterans of Foreign War Post #1341 and a member of the Midway Eagles Aerie 3183. He loved fishing, camping, napping and arrowhead hunting. Survivors include his daughter and son of Benton, MO; six sisters, two of Gassville, AR, one of Bull Shoals, AR, one on New Port RICHIE, FL and two of Oran, MO; two brothers, one of Bull Shoals, AR and one of Midway, AR; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. KEETER was born August the 26, 1932 in Jeffersonville, Georgia. She was raised and received her early education in Macon, Georgia. Her training as a lab technician was at the Macon Hospital. On June 1, 1957 was married. During her husband's years of service in the United State Air Force, she lived and traveled in Europe. After military service Ann and her husband lived in Kansas City, Missouri where she worked as a lab technician and trained and worked as a floral designer. Mrs. KEETER also taught school in Newport, Arkansas After moving to Yellville in the 1970's, she worked as a lab technician in the Marion County Hospital. She was instrumental in organizing the food closet and active in and a member of the Yellville First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 50 years of Yellville, AR and numerous cousins and friends. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral home in Yellville on Monday, July 9, 2007 from 6-8 pm. Services were held at the Burns Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Nick Lascaro officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Mr. BRITTON was returning from Michigan where he had been visiting family and friends. Mr. BRITTON was born October 22, 1956 at Battle Creek, Michigan. Originally from Battle Creek, Michigan, Mr. BRITTON and his wife moved to Flippin in 2004. He attended the First Baptist Church in Flippin. Survivors include his wife of Flippin, AR; parents, a son, a brother, two sisters all of Battle Creek, MI; five nephews, two nieces of Battle Creek, MI and one of Flippin, AR; and father-in-law and mother-in-law of Flippin, AR. He was preceded in death in 2006 by his brother, Walter BRITTON of Battle Creek, MI. Funeral arrangements are pending.
Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of July 19, 2007 issue: Ray Edward PHELPS, formerly of Yellville, Arkansas was born December 17, 1921, in Omaha, Nebraska to Henrietta Axilena PRINTZ PHELPS and Rubie GOODWIN PHELPS. He died in Longview, Texas on July 12, 2007. After growing up in Omaha, Mr. PHELPS attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma with the desire to service in the ministerial service as the Lord directed. On June 10, 1945, he married Donna WILLIAMSON of Omaha. To this union were born three children, son Lowell Edward, son Douglas Allen and daughter Kathleen Susan. Together with their family in two, they started their life of ministering to Christian Church congregations in Carlock, IL, Kewanee, IL, Omaha, NE and Blair, NE. Mr. PHELPS was extremely pleased of the involvement that he had in establishing the Wildewood Christian Church in Ralston, NE. In 1976, he moved to Flippin, Arkansas to help care for his wife's parents and accepted the position of minister of the Flippin Christian Church. At retirement, they moved to Yellville and enjoyed their retirement years enjoying the Aransas life for 28 years. In 2004, after 59 years of marriage, Mrs. PHELPS died and Mr. PHELPS moved from Yellville to Longview, TX to be closer to his daughter and her family. Mr. PHELPS enjoyed being around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially when they could all play with the model train sets in the garage. Survivors include his son and his wife; his daughter and her husband; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. His wife Donna, son Douglas, his parents, Rubie and Henrietta, and only brother, Richard, preceded him in death. Visitation was held Monday, July 16, 2007 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville. Mr. HAMPTON was born November 14, 1912 at Buffalo City, Arkansas the son of Emps and Nora LANER HAMPTON. On October 17, 1937, he married Frankie GARRIGUS. Mr. HAMPTON was a logger by trade and a member of the Summit Pentecostal Church of God. Survivors include his sons and their wives one of Summit, AR, one of Kingston Springs, TN and one of Millington, TN; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. His parents, three brothers, his wife of 54 years, Frankie HAMPTON of Summit, Arkansas and a grandson, Jeff HAMPTON of Many, Louisiana, preceded him in death. He was born November 14, 1925 at Hickory, North Carolina, the son of David and Grace HOKE MORROW. He got married and had been a resident of the Bull Shoals area since moving from Hickory, North Carolina in 1949. He was a farm equipment mechanic and co-owner of Hoke Equipment Company. He also was a former bus driver for the Flippin School District. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing the guitar and woodworking. Mr. MORROW was the 6th Mayor of Bull Shoals, serving from 1963-1965; former Bull Shoals Fire Chief; past Commander and Quartermaster of Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1431, and VFW District 2 Quartermaster; member of Bull Shoals Historical Society; and a Trustee of Newton Flat Cemetery. Mr. MORROW served with the US Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors include his wife; two sons of Flippin, AR; two daughters one of Southhaven, MS and one of Denver, CO; five grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two sisters and five brothers. A private burial will be at a later date in Newton Flat Cemetery in Bull Shoals. The daughter of George G. and Sarah Edna DENNING HAMILTON was born October 5, 1931 in Lubbock, TX. She had worked for Levi-Strauss Company as a seamstress for nine years, retiring in 1971. Her parents preceded her in death, along with her husband, William Edward LAMPERCHT; brothers, George Leon HAMILTON and Edward Merit HAMILTON; a niece; a nephew and a son-in-law, Larry STONE. Survivors include her three daughtersone of Berryville, AR, one of Phoenix, AZ, one of North Carolina; three sons one of Albuquerque, NM, one of Texas and; a brother of Bryant, TX; a sister of Sparta, MO; two granddaughters all of Berryville, AR; a great granddaughter; and two grandsons all of Berryville, AR; and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2007 at Coffman Chapel with Bill Rutherford and Bill White officiating. With honorary pallbearers. He was married at Jackson, Michigan on May 24, 1974 and was a truck tire Builder for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 25 years. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and resided in the Oakland area since moving from Rives Junction, Michigan in 1981. He owned and trained harness horses in the Jackson Michigan area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing Texas Hold-em with his card buddies. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Midway and a lifetime member of Ozark VFW Post #3246. Survivors include his wife of Jackson, MI; two daughters one of Gassville, AR and one of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren; a brother of Lansing, MI, two sisters one of Bay, AR and one of Peel, AR; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. HOLLAND was a retired registered nurse, who dept a current license and worked for the Marion County Hospital during its operation. She was a member of the Marion County Historical Society and the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband of Yellville, AR; a son and his wife of Scotts Bluff, NE; two daughters and their husbands one of Flippin, AR and one of Cotter, AR; two brothers one of Yellville, AR and one of Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada; a sister of Goshen, AR; and three grandchildren. Mrs. ROBERTS was a resident of Yellville since 1980, having moved here from Rockford, Illinois. She was a supporter of the Salvation Army. Survivors include her five sons two of Rockford, IL, one of Yellville, AR, one of Buras, LA and one of Summit, AR; five daughters, one of Machesney Park, IL, two of Rockford, IL, one of Fair Play, MO, and one of Yellville, AR; a sister, of Sparks, NV; many grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
