Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 15, 2007 issue: Harold W. HILL, age 60, of Yellville, Arkansas died at his home on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Mr. HILL was born in Decatur, Illinois on December 24, 1946 the son of Samuel and Doris BATES HILL. He was a retired carpet installer and a Vietnam War veteran who served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include his companion of Yellville, AR; a son of Decatur, IL; and a daughter and son-in-law of Decatur, IL. His parents and sister, Penny, preceded him in death. There are no local services planned. Visitation was held on Sunday, March 11, 200-7 from 6-8 p.m. at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Services were held on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, IL.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 15, 2007 issue: Patty WILSON MAINE, age 49, of Jackson, Tennessee and formerly of Summit, Arkansas, died at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Mrs. MAINE was born in Yellville, Arkansas on April 7, 1957, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. WILSON. She married Mr. MAINE. Mrs. MAINE was a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church in Jackson and the Christ Bible Church in Jackson, Tennessee. Survivors include her husband of Jackson, TN; a son of Jackson, TN; parents of Diamond City, AR; and three brothers, two of Highlandville, MO,one of Springfield, MO. Visitation was held at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Friday, March 9, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. Services were at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Earl Hedlund officiating. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 22, 2007 issue: Harold W. HILL, Sr. of Yellville, Arkansas and formerly of Decatur, Illinois died March 7, 2007 at his residence in Yellville. Mr. Hill was born December 24, 1946 to Samuel Maurice HILL and Doris Eileen BALES CLEM. He was raised by his paternal grandparents Asa and Ethel HILL of Decatur, IL. Mr. HILL owned and operated a carpet installing business in Illinois before moving to Yellville. He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. Mr. HILL served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army and served one tour in Vietnam. He was a former president of the Vietnam Chapter in Decatur. Mr. HILL spent the last few years traveling back and forth to help his uncle Mr. HILL. He was a loving and caring man and family was very important to him. He also cared for his partner during her recovery from heart surgery. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his life partner of Yellville, AR; a son of Decatur, IL; a daughter and her husband of Decatur, IL, a stepdaughter of Decatur, IL; adopted nephew of Warrensburg, IL; a sister of California; two brothers, one of Texas and of California; several aunts and uncles; and four grandchildren. His parents, grandparent, sister, Penny, aunt Mary HILL and grandson Raheem HILL preceded him in death. Mr. HILL was buried on March 12, 2007 at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 15, 2007 issue: Marian HARRER, age 95 of Yellville, Arkansas died in the Marion County Nursing Home on Saturday, March 10, 2007. Mrs. HARRER was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 31, 1912, the daughter of Peter and Maria MELOTIK MASNICA. She married Wallace HARRER on December 30, 1930. Mrs. HARRER was a retired pharmacy clerk and homemaker. She had been a resident of the Marion County Nursing Home since 1996. She was a former resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Survivors include her niece of Milwaukee, WI; a nephew and his wife of Antigo, WI; a son-in-law of Yellville, AR; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 1/2 years, Wallace; daughter Darlene BRITTICH; sister Ann MEVIS; and three brothers, John, Peter and Joseph MASNICA. Memorial services will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with entombment in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be no local visitation or services. KIRK, age 93 of Yellville, Arkansas died at the Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas on Sunday, March 11, 2007. Mr. KIRK was born in Fairfield, Illinois on March 20, 1913, the son of the late Orville Earl and Masie GWALTNY KIRK. In 1930 he was married. Mr. KIRK was a retired Industrial Arts teacher at the Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Illinois. He was also a Mason, a member of the Elks Lodge, a World War II veteran, a member of the Yellville Presbyterian Church where he was a past Elder. Mr. KIRK also loved square dancing and doing any project that involved working his hands. Mr. KIRK also taught on a volunteer basis in Texas in times past. He was a resident of Yellville since 1980 moving to the area from Caulfield, Missouri. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; a son of Chicago, IL; two daughters one of Colorado Spring, CO and one of Yellville, AR; a brother of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, one of St. Joseph, MO and one of Wichita, KS; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 15, 2007 issue: William C. STEEDMAN, age 79, of Pyatt, Arkansas died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. STEEDMAN was born August 16, 1927 at Tiffin, Ohio the son of Charles D. and Clara MARCHANT STEEDMAN. He was a WWII veteran who served 30 years as a Research Psychologist the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to the area where he was a member and for a short period of time served at the Fire Chief of the Lakeway Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; two daughters, one of Jacksonville, FL and one of Mountain Home, AR; a brother and his wife of Tiffin, OH; two nieces of Florida; and four great-nephews. His parents, sister and infant son preceded him in death. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 15, 2007 issue: Ralph A. Jones, age 77, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas died at the Hospice House on Monday, March 12, 2007. Services and burial are private. Mr. JONES was a retired retail salesman before he and his wife moved to Bull Shoals where his parents lived. He was very proud to have been a member of the Peru-Miami Masonic Lodge #67 F.&A.M. in Peru, Indiana. He was a positive and loving man who enjoyed telling jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of almost 28 years of Bull Shoals, AR; two sons, one of Manistee, MI and one of Durand, MI; two daughters and their husbands, one of Manistee, MI and one of Fairfield, CA; and eight grandchildren. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 22, 2007 issue: William "Bill" DROMGOOLE, age 72, of Yellville, Arkansas died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas. Mr. DROMGOOLE was born December 14, 1934 in Gillett, Texas the son of Irvin and Alice Adeline ANDERSON DROMGOOLE. On November 7, 1959, he got married. He was a retired employee of the City of San Antonio, Texas where he was a Control Room Operator in the city's Power Plant. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1993, he and his wife moved to Marion County where he was a member and a past president of the Ozark Music Center in Yellville, Arkansas. He enjoyed playing the guitar for the various community gatherings. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; four sons, one of San Antonio, TX, one and his wife of San Antonio, TX, one of Yellville, AR and one and his wife of Yellville, AR; three daughters, one of El Paso,, TX, one and her husband of Leming, TX and one of San Antonio, TX; a sister of San Antonio, TX; two nieces one of Smiley, TX and one of San Antonio, TX; two nephews, one of San Antonio, TX and one of Smiley, TX; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. His parents, brother, Walter, and son, Joe William DROMGOOLE, preceded him in death. Visitation was held Monday,, March 19m, 2007 at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas from 5-7 p.m. Services were conducted on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Welcome Ridge Community Church at 2:00 p.m. with Kevin Rogers, Gene Saylors and Dale Phillips officiating. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 29, 2007 issue: Funeral Service for Scott Brady NANTZ, 45, of Yellville, Arkansas was at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Floral Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Kansas City, Missouri. Interment followed in the Floral Hills Cemetery. Mr. NANTZ died on March 21, 2007 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mr. NANTZ was born June 3, 1961 at Kansas City, Missouri to Jackie Ray and Mrs. NANTZ. He was an over the road truck driver and had been a resident of Yellville since 1993 moving here from Lampe, Missouri. He was married on October 14, 1995 at Kansas City. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; mother; and four sisters all of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 29, 2007 issue: John Wesley RICHARDSON, age 59, of Yellville, Arkansas and formerly of Lawton, Oklahoma died at his home on Thursday, March 22, 2007. Mr. RICHARDSON was born July 19, 1947 in Lawton the son of John Wesley, Sr. and Mrs. RICHARDSON. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1965 and attended Cameron University. In 1966, he served in the Army National Guard then returned to Lawton to work in his family's welding business. He joined Arkla Gas Company in 1972 where he began as a salesman and rose to marketing coordinator for Arkla's Oklahoma and Kansas marketing division. In 1982, he started Welkin Mechanical in Lawton, which he owned and operated for 14 years. Mr. RICHARDSON moved to the Yellville in 1996 where he worked as a developer and consultant for the lake front property construction in the Pine Mountain areas on Bull Shoals Lake. He and his wife, Marcia, were active in Marion County politics and the Pine Mountain community. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; a son and daughter-in-law; and two granddaughters of Oklahoma City, OK; his mother; and three sisters of Moore, OK. His father and brother, Charles RICHARDSON, preceded him in death. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Richardson home on Bull Shoals Lake. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 29, 2007 issue: A graveside memorial service for Mid BETTERS of Cotter was held at 1:30 Sunday, March 25, 2007 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Will Minick officiating. A Celebration of Life followed from 2:30 until 5:00 p.m. at 333 Combs Street in Cotter. Mrs. BETTERS died on March 13, 2007 at her home. She was 81. Mrs. BETTERS was born May 7, 1925 at Algona, Iowa to Andrew G. and Elda L. BAKER MORLAN. She married Stanley BETTERS on July 4, 1942 at Rockwell, Iowa. In 1958 they moved to Chula Vista, California and then moved to Cotter in 1991. In California Mid became a Christian Science Practitioner. She was a devoted learner and is very well respected in her field of study. Mid touched many lives and loved all things. Her husband, Stan, preceded her in death in 1998. She had no local survivors. Interment will be in Kirby's Tucker memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Christian Science Reading Room. Arrangements were by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation services. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of March 29, 2007 issue: Heskett Macken "Mack" JOHNSON, age 90, of Yellville, Arkansas died on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born in Campo, Colorado on July 15, 1916, the son of Andrew Heskett and Irma WARD JOHNSON. On April 5,, 1942, he was married. Mr. JOHNSON grew up on Vici, Oklahoma graduating from high school there. He served on the town board of Trustees, the Vici School Board and the Vici First Christian church board. He was a scoutmaster. He drove a truck cross country and also worked for Pearson's Chevrolet Co. as an auto parts manager. He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps in the 3701st from 1940 to 1945 in San Antonio and Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Johnson moved his family to Canyon, Texas and in 1956 and worked at the Amarillo Air Force Base for the Civil Service as an instrument flying instructor in the Link Trainers. He was active in the Civil Air Patrol and Boy Scouts. At the Vici First Christian Church, he served as an Elder, a Sunday School Teacher and on the church board. In 1965, he started working at Tantoul Air Force Base in Illinois as a Civil Servant instructor using Link Trainers. His family lived in Paxton, Illinois, where he was on the church board, a Sunday School Teacher and an Elder at the Paxton Church of Christ. Mr. JOHNSON retired in 1977 and moved to Yellville, Arkansas with his wife and his mother Irma. He continued instructing students in flight in the late 70's and early i0's at the Marion County Regional Airport in Flippin, Arkansas. He volunteered in various ways including driving a bus for the Retired Senior Citizens Program for Marion County, Arkansas. He cared for his mother in his home in Illinois and Arkansas for 8 years before her death. He and Alice cared for her parents, Russell and Edna NIXON o=at their home in Vici, Oklahoma for a number of years before her father's death in 2000 when Mr. NIXON was about 103 years old. He was inducted into the Dewey County Hall of Fame in 2005. Another highlight was Vici's annual Parade of years before Easter where he was honored as one of the oldest living graduates of Vici High School. Mr. JOHNSON was a faithful member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville, Arkansas where he served as an elder and also taught Sunday school. Survivors include his wife of Yellville, AR; two sons and their spouses, one of Decatur, IL and one of Stillwater, OK; two daughters, one and her husband of Paxton, IL and one of New Braunfels, TX; a brother of Tampa, FL; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. His parents; son, Danny Lee; brothers, Charles Robert Lee JOHNSON and George Wesley JOHNSON and sister, Louella CASTOR preceded him in death. Mr. OSBURN was born May 12, 1947 in Parma, Arkansas the son of Mr. OSBURN and Bessie Geraldine EVERETT. He was a resident of the Pyatt community for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver and fire plow operator for the Arkansas Forestry Department. Mr. JOHNSON was born January 12, 1928 at Gassville, Arkansas the son of Ray Forrest and Gertrude Ethel HERRON JOHNSON. On March 29, 1945, he was married. Mr. JOHNSON was an avid cattleman and loved working with horses. He was a member of the Rae Valley Baptist Church, the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. Survivors include his wife of Flippin, AR; a son of Flippin, AR; daughters, one of Fayetteville, AR, two of Flippin, AR; two brothersone of Flippin, AR and one of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, one of Mountain Home, AR and one of Bothell, WA; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. MOHNEY was born in Stamping Ground, Kentucky on October 22, 1923, the daughter of Cread and Minnie GOODNIGHT WAGONER. Survivors include her daughter of Harrison, AR; two sisters of Cynthianna, KT; and one granddaughter. Her husband Simon Guy MOHNEY, preceded her in death. At her request, there was no visitation and services were private. Burial was in the Promise Land Community in Marion County.

Mrs. STRUCKLE was born in Lamar, Oklahoma on March 4, 1928 the daughter of Virgle and Bertha COLLIER RAULSTON. She married Mr. STRUCKLE. Mrs. STRUCKLE was a retired nurse's assistant for the Marion County Hospital in Yellville. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband of Yellville, AR; three sons and their spouses, one of Mountain Home, AR, one of Woodward, OK and one of Springfield, MO; a brother of Provo, UT; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was born in Stapleton, Nebraska on June 21, 1924 the daughter of William and Mary MARRS. Mrs. PACE and her husband operated the Pace Fishing Service for many years. They guided people such as Tennessee Ernie ford and Grandpa Jones many times during the years. Survivors include her husband of Flippin, AR; a son of Mountain Home, AR; a daughter of Benton, AR; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Visitation was held at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Sunday, April 1, 2007 from 3-5 pm. Graveside services were conducted at the Fairview Cemetery near Flippin, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007 with Brother Bill Rawlings officiating. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the charity of your choice.
