Mr. KINARD was born February 23, 1944 at Fort Pierce, Florida the son of Evan Braxton and Lula NIPPER KINARD. On June 22, 1962 he was married. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and moved to this area in 1983 from Okeechobee, Florida. He attended Faith Assembly of God Church in Harrison. Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law of Harrison, AR; daughter and son-in-law of Pyatt, AR; a brother of Okeechoebee, FL; two sisters of North Fort Myers, FL; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His parents, daughter, Rhonda Laraine KINARD, and brothers, Riley and Calvin KINARD and Mose and Sam JOINER, preceded him in death. A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Harrison with Pastor Arlis Thrasher officiating. A private family service will be held at a later date. Mr. ROSA was born July 29, 1932 at St. Louis, Missouri to Robert and Myrtle CHITWOOD ROSA. He and his wife moved to Bull Shoals in 1965 and for the next 30 years owned and operated B and G's Nook and Kranny. Mr. ROSA enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of February 15, 2007 issue: Dr. Gene Marshall SMITH, age 76 of Yellville, Arkansas died Friday, February 9, 2007 at Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri following a long illness. Dr. SMITH was born June 14, 1930 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Edward B. and Bera MCCANN SMITH. On March 19, 1960, he was married in Old Town Maine. He grew up in Long Beach, California, where he graduated from high school in1948. In 1952, he graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with highest honors. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to continue his studies at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, where he was a member of the Sigma Xi honor society, graduating with a PhD in 1954. Dr. Smith served for a year in the Marine Corps Reserve with Marine Fighter Squadron 241 at Los Alamitos, California in 1949. He loved to play tennis in his youth, winning several competitions in city tournaments in the late 1940's. He was an avid sportsman who loved to fish and hunt, and loved to spend time outdoors. He made a number of hunting trips to Canada, as well as a jungle safari to Bolivia, South America in 1969. Dr. and Mrs. SMITH made their home in Boston, Massachusetts, and later Topsfield, Massachusetts, where they raised their family. He was employed as a research scientist in the field of psychology for 34 years by Harvard Medical School at the Massachusetts General Hospital. During his career, Dr. SMITH achieved the position of Associate Professor of Psychology in Anesthesia, and was recognized by the medical school for 25 years of distinguished service in 1979. He was the head of the Psychopharmacology Department at MGH, where he directed an important study in the area of child abuse for the Cabot Foundation during the 1980's. He co-authored numerous papers in his field of study, presenting these at seminars on substance; several of which were published in university psychology textbooks. He also worked part time as a consultant for Bristol Meyers Squibb. He served on a federal grant oversight committee for the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) In Washington, and was a respected authority in that area of growing social concern during the 1960's through the 1980's. Dr. SMITH retired from Harvard Medical School in 1988. In 1988, Dr. and Mrs. SMITH retired to Yellville, Arkansas, where they bought a farm to raise cattle. There, he continued to enjoy his outdoor interests through the many projects he managed on their farm. He was a board member of the Marion County Farm Bureau, through which he worked to assist the farming community on farm policy and with matters pending in both the Arkansas state legislature as well as in congress. He was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. He was a gentleman farmer who thoroughly enjoyed tending cattle, cutting wood, timbering and clearing and improving his land. Dr. SMITH was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He especially enjoyed having visitors at his farm, whether they were family, friends or neighbors from near and far. He particularly adored visits with his two grandchildren. He fulfilled a lifelong dream on his Ozark farm that he enjoyed sharing with the people of his life. Survivors include his wife; children, a son of Gloucester, MA, a daughter of Middleboro, MA, a son and daughter-in-law of Hudson Falls, NY a son of Big Bear, CA; two grandchildren of Hudson Falls, NY; brother-in-law and his wife of Huntington Beach, CA; a cousin and husband of Plano, TX; and two nieces both of Huntington Beach, CA. Services will be held at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Samson Keener officiating. Services were under the direction of Hart Funeral Home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Mr. JONES was born on February 4, 1952 in Harrison, Arkansas to Ray and Gean YOCHUM JONES and died on February 9, 2007 after reaching the age of 55 years and fives day. Mr. Jones worked many years in heavy construction as an iron worker and was a truck driver. He belonged to local unions #537, #48 and #548. He was an outdoor enthusiast and loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed hillside beef and catfish. He was loved by his friends and family who will dearly miss him. Survivors include his wife of the home; two brothers, one of Peel, AR and one of Peggs, OK; three nephews; as well as many other relatives, friends and loved ones. His parents, and first wife, Anita JONES, preceded him in death. At a later date, there will be a local memorial service to celebrate Tim's life.

Mrs. DEWEY was born on November 5, 1949 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a resident of Flippin, Arkansas for the past five years. She moved to the area from Jonesboro, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 24, 2007 issue: James TIPPIT died in Gulfport on February 11, 2007 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife; former wife of Oregon; a son of Virginia; a daughter; and granddaughter of Oregon; and three nephews of Missouri. He was born in Pyatt Arkansas in 1918. After joining the Civilian Conservation Corps, he graduated from Pyatt High School in 1938. Afterward he enlisted in the Army and served with distinction throughout his twenty year career, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. His tour of duty took him to many locations abroad including South America and Southeast Asia. Returning to civilian life in New Orleans, he involved himself with several successful business ventures. His love of music led him to start his own store Tippit's Music Company. Easing into retirement, he remained active in local business while moving to the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. His love for music remained constant and his stories and jokes from his colorful past were always a source of entertainment to his family and friends. Gravesite burial will be held at 11:30, June 1, 2007 at Patton Cemetery in Pyatt, Arkansas.

Mrs. RIDDLE was born at Monarch, Arkansas on March 12, 1909 the daughter of Pate and Tennessee CAMPBELL WILKERSON. On December 28, 1931, she married Ben RIDDLE. She was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law of Peel, AR; three grandchildren two of Peel, AR and one of St. Joe, AR; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. On November 2, 1987, her husband, Ben RIDDLE, preceded her in death. Also, her daughter, Mary Lee MELTON; and her sisters, Della SCOTT, Elva MCCRACKEN, May PRUETT and Ruby AKINS, preceded her in death. Mrs. FLAK died Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Flippin, Arkansas. She was 94 Mrs. FLAK was born October 27, 1912 at St. Louis, Missouri to Walter and Antoniette POLDEZIEN GOCALN. She married Stanley FLAK on November 27, 1931 at St. Louis and was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Henry's Catholic Church in Belleville and attended St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She moved to Bull Shoals in 1997 from Belleville. She was a devout Catholic, homemaker and loved to cook for her family. She was proud of her Polish Heritage and loved to dance the Polka and care for her great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, one son Stanley FLAK, Jr. and one brother preceded her in death. Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, one of Bull Head City, AZ and formerly of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and one of Bull Shoals, AR; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
