That same year she married Don Edward BILLINGS. Don's military service helped to settle the decision on the timing of the nuptials. While he fulfilled his military obligation, Reta lived with her parents who had relocated to California. She was employed there in retail sales, working for Sears, J.C. Penney and Newberry's. The young couple returned to Arkansas after Don received his honorable discharge in 1954. During this time, Reta learned all about farm work, helping on Don's parents' farm. A year later they returned to California, making their home in Salinas while Don completed his education and Reta supported his efforts with her employment at Newberry's again. Don's career in the oil and gas industry took them next to Melrose, New Mexico. While in Melrose, Reta gave birth to their daughter, Donita, in 1957. In 1960 they moved to Tulsa and eventually made their home in Verdigris in 1995. After moving to Tulsa, Reta went to work for Enterprise School Photo as a printer, a job she enjoyed for almost 30 years. She was a valued employee. Reta's work ethic carried over to her home and community service. She kept up her yard and home, and donated her time and heart to her church as well. She was a member of the hospitality committee and a nursery worker, both activities well-suited to her nurturing, loving personality. Reta enjoyed traveling with her beloved family, and camping at Lake Tenkiller where fishing and skiing were favorite activities.
