Walter (Jeff) COWDREY: (son of:Ambrose W. COWDREY) Entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 3, 1979 Walter (Jeff) COWDREY, 65, of [address deleted] died Sunday in Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1914 in Harrison Ark. And lived in Reed, Okla., before moving to Yakima in 1923. He married Catherine Elizabeth MOORE of The Dalles, Ore., Feb. 21, 1941. He worked as a welder in shipyards in California and Bermerton, (WA), during World War II. He was a truck driver for 30 years. Mr COWDREY was a member of Teamsters Union Local 524. Survivors include his wife, Catherine E. COWDREY of Yakima; three sons, John D. COWDREY of LaGrande, Ore.; Donald G. COWDREY of Kirkland, (WA), and David J. COWDREY of Clallam Bay; one brother, John S. COWDREY of Tieton; four sisters, Mrs. Celia REPP and Mrs Clara BARNWELL, both of Selah, Mrs. Virginia KERL of Wiley City, and Mrs. Lucille NAASZ of Spokane; and three grandchildren. Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, AR 16 Aug 1979 James E (Abe) COWAN, 68, of Yellville, a farmer and lifetime resident of Marion County, died Tuesday at the Bull Shoals Community Hospital. The funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville. Bro John DOOLEN will officiate, and interment will be in the Cowan Cemetery in southeast Marion County. The Burns Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Lester BURNES, Eddie BALDRIDGE, Bobby Joe OTT, Robert PADEN, H M JOHNSON and Gus KITZING. Born Oct 1, 1910, in Marion County, Mr COWAN was the son of the late Amos and Daisy DOSHIER COWAN. He and the former Obeda JONES were married Nov 25, 1933. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, of Yellville; a daughter Rita COWAN of Springdale; a son Russell of Yellville; two sisters, Bernice JEFFERSON and Arlene OTT of Yellville, and three grandchildren. A son, James Earl COWAN, preceded Mr COWAN in death.
The Mountain Echo September 20, 1979 Maude M. HICKS of Sacramento, Calif. died Thursday, August 30 at her home. Mrs. Hicks was a native of Marion County and lived in the Rush area south of Yellville. Mrs. Hicks was born Feb. 4, 1892 in Rush to Harmon and Kimmie GENTRY. She was married June 8, 1929 at Rush to Roscoe A. HICKS. A retired teacher, she obtained her license from Conway Teacher's College. She taught school at Rush Creek and Number 10 near Ware's Chapel, Rush New Town School, Zinc, and a school on the Buffalo River. Mrs. Hicks is survived by fifteen nieces and nephews, among them Ernie GENTRY of Mountain Home; Mrs. Libby DEAN and Mrs. Mabel DUHON of Yellville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the North Sacramento Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 3 and private burial services were held in Visalia, Calif. on Sept. 4.
