Muskogee News Nov 23 1968. Mishap Fatal to Ft Gibson Man: John A. [Uncle Johnny] RAINES,87, of Ft Gibson died ca 10 a.m. Wed. in General Hospital, Muskogee.OK. Investigator, Dean Beene of the D. A. s office said RAINES was struck by a car while crossing the street. The accident occured about 1/2 block west of Ft Gibson's only traffic light. Kenneth SMITH, of Ft Gibson driver of the car, was cited for driving with obstructed vision. Born aug 15 1881 in Boone Co Ark ,Johnny was a retired stonemason and came to Ft Gibson in 1898. Survivors include; 2 sons, Bill of Ft Gibson and Jack of Muskogee. 4 daughters, Annie BOWLEN and Annis MOYDELL of Sacremento Ca. Bonnie BAILEY and BERNICE Rogers of Ft Gibson. 3 Brothers, Bob, Paul and Jim. 3 sisters, Mae PERRY, Modelia GREEN and Ola VANHORN. He is buried beside Omie in Citizen Cem, Ft Gibson, OK
December 5, 1968 - Baxter Bulletin, Mountain Home, Arkansas J. Q. ADAMS, 81, Retired Educator John Quincy ADAMS, 81, of Yellville, a retired schoolteacher and a lifetime resident of Marion County, died at a Yellville hospital last Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Myrtle DEAN ADAMS of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice JOHNSON of Flippin; four brothers, Dr. A. V. ADAMS and Elmer ADAMS of Harrison, Jim ADAMS of Yakima, Wash., and Walter ADAMS of Carthage, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Nell BURNS and Mrs. Ora WILLINGHAM of Yellville; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. ADAMS was born at Yellville on Sept. 5, 1887, the son of John Quincy ADAMS Sr. and Nancy Emaline KEETER ADAMS. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Yellville Methodist Church by Rev. Aubrea Hayes and Rev. W. E. Browning. Interment was in the Layton Cemetery, under the direction of the Holt-Burns Funeral Service of Yellville. Pallbearers were Burl KING, Everett DARDIN, Leo AVEY, Roscoe JEFFERSON, Richard RUBLE and Eldon VERNON. Honorary pallbearers were Walter BRIDGES, Kenneth THOMAS, Cleo MARTIN, Lucian LAYTON, Sam DUREN and Carl BURLESON.

She was born April 10, 1897 at Rea Valley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. TREAT. Survivors are her husband, Walter F. PLUMMER; a son, Walter F. PLUMMER, Jr. of West Monroe, La.; two daughters, Mrs. Joe WADLEY of Little Rock, and Mrs. Don GUNDRAM of Swedborg, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Quince OTT and Mrs. Virgie MAXEY, both of Yellville, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Pleasant Ridge Church with Bro. John LYON officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were Lester OTT, Abe COWAN, Garland OTT, Herbert OTT, J. B. OTT and Onimus McINTIRE.

"Doc" HALL were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Main Street Church of Christ with the pastor, John LYON, and Edward E. POWERS, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were James HALL, Cecil MEARS, Kenneth Earl HALL, Hollis HALL, L. G. WAGGONER and Miles PANGLE. Honorary pallbearers were Kirby WAGGONER, Irvin HORN, Robert JONES, George HICKEY, Jerry JONES, Bob MEARS and John KIDWELL. Mr. HALL died Jan. 7 at the Marion County Hospital where he had been a patient a week. He was born April 29, 1900 in Marion County, the son of Tom and Martha (TILLEY) HALL and had lived here all his life. He was 68 years old. Survivors are his wife, Lillian M.; a son, Verl of Roseville, CA; two daughters, Mrs. Doyne CALLAHAN, Wichita, KS, and Mrs. Eddie BALDRIDGE, Yellville; four brothers, Alfred, Everett and Edgar of Yellville, and Edward of Summit; four sisters, Mrs. Derisha HALLOWELL [sic, should say Derusha HOLLOWELL], Granger, WA, Mrs. Drucilla WITTER [sic, should say WHITTEN], Monett, Mrs. Lunda ANDERSON, Piggott, and Mrs. Savannah ROLAND, Peoria, IL, 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mr. HALL was a member of the Church of Christ.
Newspaper 1969 Funeral services for Ellis N. PARKER, 86, were held in the Parks Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday (March 22) at 2:30 P.M., with Mr. Walter Courtright officiating. Mr. PARKER died in the Wetumka General Hospital on March 20, after a short illness. He was born at Flippin, Arkansas on January 19, 1883 and moved to Hughes County, Oklahoma, in 1913. He moved to the Bearden community in 1932 and had continued to live there until his death. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Bearden. His wife, Mrs. Almona E. PARKER, preceded him in death on January 13, 1965. Mr. PARKER is survived by one son, Corb O. PARKER, Sapulpa, Oklahoma; two brothers, E.B. PARKER, Cromwell, Oklahoma and W.N. PARKER, Seminole, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ralph CASEY, J.T. DESHIELDS, Earl JACKSON, B.F. MORRIS, Jr., C.R. SHACKELFORD and Courtland TYLER. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery at Okemah.

Mr. JONES, a lifetime resident of Marion County, moved from the Cowan Barren community to Flippin a few years ago. He was born April 15, 1885 in Marion Couty to Laufette [sic] and Martha ELLICENT JONES. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Beulah TILLEY, Flippin, Mrs. Eula OTT, Mrs. Obeda COWAN, and Mrs. Anna SCOTT, all of Yellville, and Mrs. Florence KEITH, Springfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. April 22 at the Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville, with the minister, John R. LYON officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Pallbearers were Doyne SEATON, Charles ROBISON, Karel SANDERS, Herbert OTT, J. B. OTT and Clarence HALL. [Felix M. Mountain Echo, Yellville, AR 22 May 1969 Lowell G TILLEY Drowns In California Mr and Mrs Wilbern TILLEY of Bishop, Calif., started to drive to Arkansas on a visit leaving their son, Lowell Glen and a daughter in California. When they arrived here it was the sad duty of relatives to tell them that their son, Lowell Glen had drown [sic] on May 12. Lowel Glen TILLEY was born at Flippin, Ark., March 29, 1951, the son of Mr and Mrs Wilbern TILLEY. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Billy Gene and Bobby Lee, both of Bishop, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs Shirley OSTLER of Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs Bonnie Sue SALQUE of Bishop, Leta Kay and Debbie of the home; his grandmothers, Mrs Dorothy JONES of Farmersville, Calif., and Mrs Mirla TILLEY of Flippin. Funeral services were in the Don Talmage Chapel with Rev Tommy DeWITT officiating. Interment was made in the East Line Street Cemetery. Pallbearers were classmates of the deceased. Lowell Glen was a nephew of Nemo and Elmo TILLEY and Mary Lee HOPPER.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs Mary Lee HOPPER, three sons, Jerry Dean, Randy Wayne and Gregory David, and two daughters, Mrs Kelly HUDSON and Mrs Doyle DENNIS, all of Flippin; three brothers, Lloyd HOPPER of Flippin, Guy A HOPPER of Sulphur Springs and Harvey HOPPER of Zillah, Wash.; two sister, Mrs Alice TREAT of Zillah and Mrs Ottalene MANSFIELD of Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren. The son the late Thomas HOPPER and Maude KNIGHT HOPPER, Mr HOPPER was born in Baxter County on Nov 29, 1916. He moved to Marion County 25 years ago and was a member of the Flippin Baptist Church.
