White River Township

Dividing Line

    White River Township was created in 1837 and is one of Marion Co's original townships. The town of Flippin is in this township.
    White River first appeared as a township on the 1840 Census with a population of 303.
    Between the 1860 and 1870 censuses White River Township was renamed Flippin Barren Township and then between the 1880 and 1890 censuses its name was changed back to White River.
    Parts of the township were given to Crooked Creek Township between the 1890 and 1900 censuses and to Joe Burleson Township in 1905.
