In the Introduction to Marion Co, AR's Townships Timeline of Formation & Changes it was noted that due to courthouse fires the dates and reason for township changes have been lost. To update the Timeline and the individual township pages the information from the US Census Bureau's Statistical reports were used. Between 1977 when Mysty McPherson researched and published the first timeline for Marion County and 2020 the Census Bureau revamped its website and these reports are now a bit easier to find. However, for those who wish to see the actual reports I'm furnishing this Sources information.

Although the US Census Bureau's information for the 1840 Census says the Statistical Population Report includes "Minor Civil Divisions" (for Marion Co that means Townships) I have been unable to locate a digital online copy of this report.
The 1850 and 1860 censuses Statistical Reports simply listed the Minor Civil Division in alphabetical order, without a county name, regardless of the state it was located in. It wasn't until the 1870 Statistical Reports that Minor Civil Divisions were reported by state and then by county. Thankfully this 1870 report included the information for the years 1850 and 1860, along with the 1870 Census information. Unfortunantly 1840 is not included leaving only the Township information on the census schedules themselves as a source for Township names.
The 1920 Census changed the way it reported on Minor Civil Divisions and it wasn't until the 1950 Census reports that Minor Civil Districts were once again listed by state, county and townships.
According to the Census Schedules themselves there haven't been any Township changes for Marion County between 1920-1940. I stopped after the 1940 Census since the 1940 Census is the last one that has been opened to the public.

Note: The report for Marion County, AR contains population information for the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses along with Notes of township changes that occurred between the censuses. No changes are listed for the time period between the 1840 and 1850 censuses although Prairie Township wasn't on the 1840 Census and it was on the 1850 Census. The Notes include - "In 1855 Independence from Rapp's Barren and Whiteville". This is incorrect. Independence Township was actually created in 1862 and it first appears as a township on the 1870 Marion County, AR Census.

Note: The report contains population statistics from the 1870 and 1880 censuses. However, for Marion County, the notes section where township changes are found stated: "Information as to changes in minor civil division incomplete".

Note: Population counts and remarks are listed for the 1890, 1900 and 1910 census years. Although Tomahawk Township was merged back into Hamilton Township between 1890 and 1900 it is noted in the Remarks section that Tomahawk Township had a population of 451 but was included in Hamilton's population count but doesn't state for which year, however on the 1900 Census report it's noted this was for the 1900 census.

Note: For the 1920 Census statistical reports the Census Bureau changed the way it reported Minor Civil Division. The population statistics were listed by state and then by county in one section of the report. Other sections noted changes in boundaries and another section noted changes in Minor Civil Divisions.
On page 94, Marion County, AR has notation of "1" beside its name. In checking the footnotes number 1 states:
"1. For notes regarding changes in boundaries, etc. see p.139". Also on page 94 is a note saying: "For rates of increase or decrease for combination of new counties with those from which formed, see Table 24, p. 39."
In following these instructions for boundary changes on p.139 for Marion Co the remark reads: "Marion - Part taken to form part of Baxter in 1873; part of Searcy annexed in 1875.". For changes in counties (on page 139) Marion County isn't listed although between the 1910 and 1920 censuses Big Springs Township was created.
