A William Reynolds first shows up in the tax records in 1846 as a poll tax. This would make sense as William would have turned 21 that year. He also shows up in 1847, 1849, 1851, and 1852 as a poll tax only. In 1853, 1854 and 1855, a William Reynolds shows up as a poll tax and owning land in 19/19/15. By 1855 he owns 80 acres in that section. He shows up again in 1859 and 1866 with 160 acres of land each time in that same section.

Letter in the possession of Larry Reynolds from W.H. Wood to W.R. Reynolds: Flat Creek, Mo. Dec. 28, 1871
Mr. W.R. Reynolds
Dear Bro., I have waited long... to hear from you.. but in vain.. you forgot to mail your last ?????. When I wrote you last I thought about coming to see you about Christmas.. I failed however to get pay for teaching(?) which threw me flat in which condition I remain to the present..and must for some time to come unless I can get help from Ark..
What is Louiza's interest in her father's landed Estate worth..and is it available I mean will it sell now..again will any land there sell.. I would sell one or the other or both.. at anything like a reasonable price. I wrote to you about your receipts in Aug. last.. did you get it. I want you to write soon and if you can sell either of those interests for me at something like a fair price tradeand I will make it right. I am in a tight now.. money is scarce and hard to get.. I have near 75 dollars owing to me.. and one half would make me easy now. but I can't reach it. I think I will get it in the summer or the most of it. I will say again if your Recepts are lacking write what it is owed. I will make it right.
Louiza says she wants to see you & Anna and the children a little worse than ever before.. and wants me to give you a special invitation to bring the family & come out and see us .. she says you need have no fear of starving that we have plenty to eat.. except coffee.. that's played out.. and I know she tells the truth (for we had an Opossum) for dinner.. and it is all good.
Now for the invitation. In the name of the state load up your wagon with Anna and the children and plenty of provisions especially coffee and pay us a visit. Can you tell us anything of Meridith.. what is his post office and where is he. We are all well
Write soon in haste (?)
W. H. Wood

The Genealogies of Marion County Families book has: "Settled in Keesee Township on the Jim Dean farm opposite Bradley's Ferry. Widower in Union Township 1900 with son "Fate" and family living with him.
Children of MARY TUCKER and JOHN JONES are:
i. MARGARET ANN4 JONES325.
ii. FRANK JONES325.
iii. WILLIAM LAFAYETTE "FATE" JONES325,326, b. October 1868, Marion County, Arkansas327; m. GENA TERAH "TERRY" BARNETT327, December 15, 1887, Marion County, Arkansas327,328; b. November 1868, Alabama329.
Notes for WILLIAM LAFAYETTE "FATE" JONES:
Taken from Oldham County 1881-1981:
"Mr. Jones came to Oldham County and bought some land in 1905 and he and the family moved here the next year. He and his wife, Terah, and two sons, Henry Farmer and Auburn, Mr. and Mrs. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver and four children, George Bush and Author Williams traveled together with horses and wagons. They arrived in Vega August 19, 1906. At that time, there were three houses and a railroad grade in Vega. Their first night here, they camped about 7 miles southeast of Vega on the prarie. Mr. Giles had about 20 acres broken out and they drove on the inside of the fences. The next day they went to Giles' home and camped in his feedlot. They set out their stove, put two or three joints on it and cooked in the open. They lived there two weeks while they built a three room one way shack with material hauled from Amarillo. Water had to be hauled 1/2 mile from Giles' well. The first winter a snow storm blew so bad, you could not see where you were going and it drifted over the fences. They had to melt snow for drinking water for themslves and 4 cows and 5 horses.
Cow chips supplied fuel. The early settlers gathered and stored them like wood. These made a quick hot fire, but kept them busy putting some in and carrying out the ashes. Later coal was hauled from Amarillo.
The Jones family moved to Vega Feb. 1908. Mr. Jones was the first Vega blacksmith. Mr. A.M. Miller had the first post office in his home. When Mr. and Mrs. Sachse took over the post office, they used the Jones' front room until their house was built. Wagon trails went in all directions and anyone traveling would take pliers, steeples and hammer along and when they came to a fence, they would take it down, drive over and then fix the fence.
Sunday School was every Sunday afternoon and preaching twice a month. When preacher came, Sunday School was in the morning, basket dinner at noon, and preaching again in the afternoon. Everyone attended the services because that was about the only time people got together.
Mrs. Jones told that when they left home, they never locked their doors. It was not the habit of those early day settlers. Cowboys or other people traveling through would stop, cook a meal, wash the dishes, feed their horses, maybe stay all night, and then leave a note of thanks and their name. People were not afraid of strangers in those days. The W.L. and Farmer Jones families moved to Lytle, TX in 1939."
