Jane WILLIAMS died Monday, May 1, at Marion County Nursing Home. Visitation was from 10:00 A.M. until service time at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. WILLIAMS was born December 26, 1922, at Des Moines, Iowa, to George and Ethel WEBB GEBARD. She was married on November 21, 1975, at Denver, Colorado. Mrs. WILLIAMS was retired clerical worker who lived in Yellville since moving from Aurora, Colorado, in 1984. She was a square dancer for twenty years, an amateur radio operator since 1963 and a member of Marion County Amateur Radio Club. She is survived by her husband; one son and his wife; one stepdaughter; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of May 11, 2006 issue: Leon Fredrick MERSMAN died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at the North Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 77. The son of Christopher and Ida BRUMMEL MERSMAN, he was born July 30, 1928 in Richmond, Kansas. On March 14, 1951, he got married. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and worked at Toastmaster for 10 years. He owned Mersman Motors Sales in Elgin, IL for many years and recently retired to Peel, Arkansas. Mr. MERSMAN was a great man, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is loved very much and will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife; two daughters; one son and daughter-in-law; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Ida MERSMAN, brother, Virgil MERSMAN, sisters, Lorranie CLARK and Velma VANE. A celebration of life will take place in Olathe, Kansas at a later date. Burial will be private. On August 10, 1936, Marilyn Kathryn KING was born to Clay and Kathryn GRIMES KING at Luray, Kansas. On September 22, 1982, she was married at Miami, Oklahoma. Marilyn was a registered nurse for almost 50 years and owned and operated the Olathe Hearing Aid Center in Olathe, Kansas for 25 years before she and her husband retired in 2002 and moved from Gardner, Kansas to Flippin. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Olathe, the International Hearing Aid Society and the Kansas State Hearing Aid Society. Survivors include her husband; a daughter; a son; a stepdaughter; a sister; two grandsons; and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. VAUGHN was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Untied State Army. Pat was born in Olney, Texas on June 25, 1907. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Vardy and Margaret (SMITH) CARR. She graduated from Megargel High in 1925. She married J. D. HARDEGREE on February 190, 1928. In the mid 40's she worked for the U.S.D.A. She and Mr. HARDEGREE worked in British Columbia and South America. They moved to Marion County in 1959. Pat was a member of the Church of Christ all of her adult life. Survivors include her son and his wife; one brother; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and several great-grandchildren. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of June 15, 2006 issue: Mary Catherine HENRY CRAIG was born on August 27, 1922 in Flippin, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Annual and Eula BILLINGS HENRY. She was a 1940 graduate of Flippin High School. Mary was the great great-granddaughter of Flippin founder Judge W.B. FLIPPIN. His father, Thomas H. FLIPPIN, moved to Marion County, Arkansas in 1857. Judge FLIPPIN was very active in politics, serving in the State Legislature in 1854-1874 and was elected Clerk of the State Senate. He died November 14, 1906. Mary was the granddaughter of W.P. and Flora FLIPPIN HENRY, longtime residents of Flippin, who are now deceased. She married Charles O. GRAHAM, son of Jess and Ada GRAHAM of Cotter in 1944. They had a daughter, Marilyn, who currently resides in Everton, Missouri and a son, Ronnie, who died in 1966. Mary had three grandsons, Craig, Wayne and Kevin CUNNINGHAM, and three granddaughters. Mary had four brothers; and one sister, Jean who died in September 2000. Mary was employed as the secretary at Flippin High School from 1954 to 1962. In 1961, she married John B. Craig and they spent their time traveling in the northwest, visiting family and friends. John died in 1993. Mary was active in the VFW and VFW Auxiliary for 51 years serving as State President of the auxiliary from 1960-61. She was a member of VFW Post 5742 in Cotter where she served as secretary for the auxiliary and Sr. Vice President of the Cooties. One of her favorite auxiliary activities was serving as the clown group of the Cooties, where she was selected MOMMA clown of the State Cooties. Mary passed away in Flippin, Arkansas on May 6, 2006. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of June 1, 2006 issue: Lorraine D. POLEN, age 74, of Yellville, Arkansas died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at her home in Yellville. Mrs. POLEN was born February 18, 1932 at Florence, Arizona to Walter Leroy and Anna Jeanette KIRBY NEWTON. She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant. Formerly of New York, she moved to Marion County in 1986. Survivors include one son; four daughters; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her parents and husband, Lloyd, preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006 at B urns Funeral Home in Yellville. No services are scheduled.
