Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 5, 2006 issue: Con SHIPMAN, age 86, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the last of 11 children born to William Marion and Ibbie Paralee LANGSTON SHIPMAN. He grew up in Freck, Arkansas and moved to Kansas City during he depression years to find work. He first worked for North American Aviation making parts for bomber planes. He was inducted into the Untied State Navy and served overseas in the South Pacific during World War II. Following is honorable discharge, he returned to Kansas City and began working at the steel plants. He retired from Armco Steel in 1981 after 36 years of service. In 1949, he was united in marriage to at Indepenence, Missouri. They made their home in Independence and in 1979, they opened Cumberland Gap near Warsaw. In 1990 they moved their residence in Cumberland Gap near Warsaw where they continued to make their home. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his wife; two sons; three grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Donald Allcorn officiating. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery near Warsaw. Family received friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 5, 2006 issue: Doulph G. B. WARD of Flippin, Arkansas died Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin. He was 75. Mr. WARD was born January 18, 1930 at Trumann, Arkansas to Grover and Margarite SMITH WARD. He was a retired service station attendant. Mr. WARD grew up in Trumann, AR and moved to Yellville 19 years ago. Survivors include his two sons; and two sisters. His parents preceded him in death. No visitation or funeral service is scheduled. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 12, 2006 issue: Dorothea Caroline HYATT, 86, of Otto, North Caroline entered into rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Warren Fisher MUNCEY and Ethel Dorothea KIRK MUNCEY. She was married to late Richard Edwin HYATT, Sr. Who died in 1999 and was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Raymond MUNCEY. Dorothea was a member of the Franklin Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Dorothea met a salesman, Richard Edwin HYATT, when she was 21 and married him six weeks later. The two raised nine children, living in New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina, Yellville, Arkansas and Indiana. In 1970, they settled in Otto, NC. They built a five bedroom house wtih two baths, two living rooms, two greenhouses, two kitchens, and several porches. The house served as a setting for many Christmas parties often attended by 40-50 people. Dorothea read every book in the Franklin, NC library, checking out ten books every week and reading every page. Once could ask her a question on history, geography, or science; she always had a swift and correct answer, including the rare "I don't know." She loved growing plants. She and her husband picked wild flowers one morning on the way to church. After that, they grew flowers and provided bouquets every Sabbath morning for the church service. She is survived by five sons; four daughters; four brothers; two sisters; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Saturday, January 7, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home, Franklin, NC. Elder Carl Ashlock will officiate. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Franklin, NC. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 5, 2006 issue: Delsie MARTIN of Summit, Arkansas died Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Marion County Nursing Home in Yellville, Arkansas. She was 96. Mrs. MARTIN born October 16, 1909 in Iuka (Izard County), Arkansas to Joseph and Sylvia ARNOLD. On October 10, 1931, she married Cleo MARTIN. She was a retired beautician, who owned her own beauty shop for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Yellville and the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son; her daughter; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and five sisters preceded her in death. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Yellville United Methodist Church with Rev. Nick Lascaro officiating Burial will follow in the Layton Cemetery in Yellville with pallbearers. No visitation is scheduled. DOTSON, 81, of Flippin, Arkansas on Sunday, January 8, 2006, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Flippin with Brother Jim Roberts officiating. Mr. DOTSON died January 4, 2006, at Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born May 23, 1924, at Clearwater, Mississippi, to Grover and Eula MANLEY DOTSON. He was married March 18, 1995, at Flippin, Arkansas. He was a machinist who worked at Engine Rebuilders for 30 years. Herman L. DOTSON was an Army veteran of WWII who lived in Flippin since moving from Greenville, Mississippi in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working on cars and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his wife; three daughters; two sons; three step-daughters; seven grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 26, 2006 issue: Mrs. Louella GOLDEN GUILLET, age 89, died Thursday, January 5, 2006. She was born in Middletown, Bulter County, Ohio, the second oldest of seven children to Walter ACRA and Nellie STAPLES. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1934. She retired in 1968 as a secretary with Monsanto Chemical in Miamisburg, Ohio and moved with her husband Ross GUILLET, to Lakeview Arkansas. She was a hospice Volunteer, helped found and was a Volunteer for the Baxter County Arkansas Library and wrote a newspaper column for the Lake River Times in Bull Shoals, Arkansas for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross in 1995; her parents; sisters, Meredith PECK, and Jan BACK; and her brother, Milton ACRA. Mrs. GILLET is survived by her son; four stepdaughters; one brother; two sisters; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Millbrook Chapel, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 on Saturday, February 4, 2005 [2006] at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. J. P. Joe Morris officiating. Mrs. CLENDENAN died Saturday, January 7 in Flippin, Arkansas. She was 79. She moved to Bull Shoals in 1969 and owned several businesses including Handcrafters, Hill Billy Drive-in, Snoop Shop and Flower Basket and was well known for her cooking. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of January 19, 2006 issue: Ethel Lee LIPSCOMB, age 88, of Flippin, Arkansas (formerly of DeQueen, Arkansas) passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2006 in the Twin Lakes Nursing Center in Flippin. Mrs. LIPSCOMB was born at Arkinda, Arkansas on March 29, 1917. She was the daughter of the late William and Nada ARNOLD BROWN. She was a retired Legal Secretary for Abe Collins in DeQueen, Arkansas for many years. She was a member of the Flippin 1st Baptist Church and a longtime member of the DeQueen 1st Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Drughan's Business College in Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. LIPSCOMB made Flippin, Arkansas her home since 1999, having moved to Flippin from DeQueen, Arkansas. Ethel married J. W. LIPSCOMB on September 2, 1945. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, AR; one grandson, and one granddaughter and her husband. Mrs. LIPSCOMB is also survived by a niece. Mrs. LIPSCOMB was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Visitation was held at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday, January the 17 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with services beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Steve Martin officiating. A second service will be held at the Redman Cemetery in DeQueen, Arkansas on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 18 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home in DeQueen, Arkansas. She passed away on January 16, 2006 at White River Healthcare in Calico Rock at the age of 84 years, and 1 month. She was united in marriage to Ivor E. BEEL on August 24, 1938 and to this union two children were born, she was a homemaker and owned and operated two restaurants and a donut shop in the past several years. After her husband passed away, she married John LOCKHART in August of 1988, and to this union she received three children. Hilda Mae leaves to mourn her passing one daughter and one son-in-law; one son and daughter-in-law; one brother and sister-in-law; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one grandson, Ronald L. MORGAN. Funeral service was Friday, January 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Mt. He was born September 17, 1941 to the late Henley and Kitty CRUNKLETON STEPHENSON at Bruno, Arkansas, Marion County. He was married on May 27, 1962 at Bruno, Arkansas. THOMPSON, 89, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas were Friday, January 27, 2006 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel in Bull Shoals with burial in Newton Flat Cemetery. Mrs. THOMPSON died January 23, 2006 at Flippin. "Hilda" Huldis Regina THOMPSON was born April 18, 1916 at Medstad, Canada the daughter of Stain and Gunhild HALVERSON RASMUSSON. She spoke Norwegian before she entered public school. She was one of the few homesteaders' children of Saketchwan, Canada to obtain her second year high school certification in 1929. She maried Alfred "Alf" THOMPSON on January 24, 1945, in Canada. Born Canadian, Hilda became an American citizen in 1952. She worked at #9 Hospital, a home for the mentally challenged in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada prior to moving to the U.S. She then worked for "Cracker Jack" a division of Borden Corporation for 30 years before moving to Bull Shoals in 1975 from Oak Lawn, Illinois. She was a member of the Christ By The Lake Lutheran Church of Bull Shoals. Huldis was a kind, loving and gracious woman who worked hard and went "without" for much of her life. Her family, garden and many friends were her highest priority. Her faith and moral values sustained her strength all through her life. Left to mourn is her sister and brother-in-law; her four nieces; four great nephews. She was also loved by her four great nieces; her church family of "Christ by the Lake" Lutheran Church of Bull Shoals, and her caring friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her mother Gunhild RASMUSSON of Canada (formerly of Norway) in 1992; her sister Gladys KERR of Canada in 1993; her father Stain RASMUSSEN in 1962; and her husband Alfred THOMPSON in 1997. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of February 2, 2006 issue: Mitchell MOORE, 61, of Ralph, Arkansas, a disabled Vietnam Veteran, passed away Monday, January 30, 2006 at his residence. Mr. MOORE was born in Sandy Hook, Kentucky on April 22, 1944 to Estel and Lucy Jane (ELDRIDGE) MOORE. He spent most of his adult hood in rural areas near Urbana-Springfield, Ohio, and moved to Arkansas in 1995. He was a carpenter and contractor, and many will remember his kindness and generosity, and special fondness for children. He married at 18 and was drafted at 27. He served as a team leader in the 25th Infantry Division, 1st Battalion (Mech), 5th Infantry and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Commendation for Meritorious Achievements in Vietnam. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by for children; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters; his companion; and a legion of friends in Marion and Baxter Counties. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The Ozark VFW Post 3246 in Mountain Home paid tribute to Mr. MOORE at 4:00 pm Wednesday, February 1, in the lounge at the intersection of Gray and 7th streets. Memorials may be made to the Vietnam Children's Fund (PO Box 150, Unionville, VA, 22567 or www.vietnamchildren.org), which has built a network of 30 elementary schools as a living memorial to families and children lot in Vietnam's wars. Construction of 18 more schools built with donations is anticipated in 2007. Ten dollars will send a child to school for one year. Arrangements by the Twin Lake Cremation Society and Funeral Home.

Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of February 2, 2006 issue: Major Richard R. GUNDRY, USAF Ret, age 80 of Mountain Home, formerly of Yellville, passed away, Tuesday, January 31, 2006 in Mountain. Home. Richard was born October 2, 1925 in National City, California. He was the son of the late Leonard F. and Alda (KIMBALL) GUNDRY. Richard was an all around athlete in high school and earned his Eagle Scout Award before enlisting in the Air Corps. He served as a pilot in the United States Air Force from 1943 until his retirement in 1966. He sold life insurance in California. After moving to Arkansas in 1975 he became a realtor. He was the Owner/Broker of the Red Barn Realty in Yellville, Arkansas. He moved to Mountain Home four years ago where he was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and the VFW of Mountain Home. He is preceded in death by his 1st wife of 48 years, Colleen GUNDRY, his parents and his brother Fred. Richard is survived by his wife; his three sons; and his daughter. Richard is also survived by one brother and his wife; one step-son and his wife. He was survived by seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2006 at the Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville, Arkansas with Full Military Honors following in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Yellville, Arkansas. Visitation will be held at the Burns Funeral Home on Thursday, February 2nd from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mountain Home and the Humane Society of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Mountaineer Echo Newspaper Week of February 9, 2006 issue: Mr. Myron "Mike" BORSKI, age 74, of Flippin, Arkansas passed away on January 31, 2006 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Services and burial were private. Mr. BORSKI was born June 3, 1931 to William M. and Audie M. WILLIAMS BORSKI in Kankakee, Illinois. Mr. BORSKI was an entrepreneur and was a small business owner in the automotive industry before he retired. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police during the Korean War and was called from inactive duty to serve two enlistments. In May of 1953, he was married and two children were born from this union. Mr. BORSKI is survived by his wife of 521/2 years; a son and daughter-in-law; daughter and son-in-law; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be given to the Hospice House in Mike's memory. Arrangements were by Twin Lakes Cremation Society and Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, Arkansas (870) 445-4257.
