J. V. Ortner, 76, of Rogers died Friday, June 18, 2004, at home.
He was born Nov 10, 1927, in Marshfield, Mo., to the late Velton Washington Ortner and Ellen Vieta Dill Ortner.
He went into the poultry business at a young age in Joplin, Mo., managing a hatchery there for several years before moving to Springdale. He worked for George's Foods in Springdale and Armour and Co. in Texas. He worked as a field supervisor in the turkey department of Hudson Foods for 17 years before retiring. He was a charter member of Cornerstone Assembly near Little Flock and later a member of First Assembly of God. He enjoyed hunting quail and pheasants with his bird dogs. He loved the Lord and was so proud of his wonderful family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Vivian Ruth Ortner of the home; three sons, Steve Allen Ortner of Lamar, Mo.; Jeffery Dan Ortner of Meridian, Texas, and Stan Wade Ortner of Bremond, Texas; one brother, Mac Eugene Ortner of Webb City, Mo.; six sisters, Nadine, Wanda, Nancy, Judy, Carol and Bonnie, all of Marshfield, Mo., and Joplin, Mo.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Clyde Brummet officiating. Burial will be in Benton County Memorial Park.
