WALKER, Louis Thomas

Louis Thomas Walker was born February 13, 1934, to
Louis Morton and Edna Walker in Brownsville, PA.  He
had lived in Warren for over 40 years.

He died Monday, November 20, 2000, at the Bradley
County Medical Center in Warren, at the age of 66.

He united with Union Hill in 1957.  Louis served as
deacon, choir director, and finance secretary of Union
Hill.  He was called to preach God's gospel under the
pastorate of Minister Marvin T. Easter and was licensed
the 6th day of November, 1971.  He received his Certification
of Ordination on the 10th day of September, 1972.  Louis retired
from the Post Office in 1988 as a letter carrier for 21 years.
He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years.  He
received the Degree of Bachlor of Bible Theology from
International Bible Institute and Seminary, Orlando, Florida,
the 16th day of September, 1986 by extension course.

He has been pastor of the following churches:
Beginning in 1972, First Baptist Church, Sparkman, AR for 
11 years; Mt. Carmel, Warren, 1 1/2 years; Mt Tabor, Magnolia,
6 1/2 years; First Baptist, Hermitage, 1 year and 3 months.  He
resigned when his health failed.  He served as moderator of
the Columbia District Association, Magnolia, from 1996-97.
He brought the devotional message each week at both nursing
homes in Warren when he wasn't pastoring.

The Lord blessed him with three sons in the ministry at Mt.
Tabor M.B. Church, Magnolia.  They are  Ministers John and
Antione Wesson and Cedric Scott, 1994-95.

He was married to Mary Green Walker 43 years ago.  They were
the parents of two children, Mrs. Sylvia Walker Day of Little Rock
and Terry Wayne Walker of Los Angeles, CA.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two children, Sylvia and Terry;
one grandson, Ryan Day; one sister, Fannie Marie Horton of 
Cleveland, OH; three brothers, Minister James K. Horton of Detroit,
MI, Randal Patterson (Mildred) of Cleveland, OH, and Chester Walker
of McKeesport, PA; two sisters-in law, Mrs. Helen Dower (Richard) of
Chicago, IL, Mrs. Martha Colen (James) of Warren; two brothers-in-law,
Mr. Travis Green (Joyce) of Rockford, IL, and Mr. David Green (Lillie),
of Warren; many nephews, nieces, in-laws, friends, frist cousins, all
relatives and friends.


WALTON, Samantha

Samantha La Jade Walton, age one, of Warren, died Saturday,
December 1, 2001, at Bradley County Medical Center.

She was born November 6, 2000, in Warren, the daughter of 
Nakitha Leonard of Warren and Samuel Walton of Monticello.

Other survivors include 3 brothers, Samuel, Jr., Alzie and 
Cameron Walton; 2 sisters, Sa'mra and Krissy Walton; 2 uncles,
Tarrence Carter of Kansas City, MO and Shannon Leonard of
Warren; one aunt, Mar Keisha Walton of Monticello; and a
special friend, Tylette Jackson of Wilmar; grandparents, Cordia
Ederington and Dwight both of Warren, Bennie Walton of
Monticello, and Sammy Walton of Hamburg; great-grandparents,
Robert and Beulah Ederington of Warren, Christine Rainey of
Warren, and Doris Griggs of Hamburg; and a host of great-aunts
and uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, December 5, 2001, at Union
Hill Missionary Baptist Chruch with Rev. K.L. Dawn officiating.
Burial was in Lacy Cemetery by Reddick Funeral Home.


WARNER, Versa Mae

Versa Mae Warner, age 71, of Fordyce, died Friday, March 1, 2002,
at her home.

Born July 4, 1930, in New Edinburg, she was the daughter of 
John Domineck and Mary Irene Park Domineck.

She was a homemaker and a member of Greenville First Baptist
Church in Fordyce.

Survivors inclued her husband, Luther T. Warner of Fordyce; 6
sons, Rev. Silas (Shirley) Warner, John (Bobbie) Warner, Leon
(Debra) Warner, Rev. Calvin (Juanita) Warner, Raymond Warner and
Rev. Royce (Renee') Warner, all of Fordyce; 9 daughters, Dorsey
Fields, Pearline Edwards, Versa (Victor) Blackmon, Alice Weathers,
Christine Warner, Genece (Marvin) Hardaway, Dorothy (Bryan)
Sledge all of Fordyce, Kathern (Steve) Butter of Hot Springs, and
Mary (Bruce) Bell of Arkadelphia; one brother, John Domineck of
St. Louis, MO; 33 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thurdsay, March 7, 2002, at Greenvale
First Baptist Church in Fordyce with Rev. Silas T. Warner officiating.
Burial was in Greenville Cemetery in Fordyce by Marks Funeral Home.


WATSON, Annie B.

Annie B. Watson, age 89, of Jersey, died Sunday, October 17, 1999,
in Beverly Healthcare in Warren.

Mrs. Watson, a homemaker, was born July 10, 1910, in
Jersey, a daughter of Ed an Nora Stalling Davis.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jersey.

Survivors include her husband, Denson Watson, 2 sons, Leo
Lawson of Warren and Edward Watson of Milwaukee, WI, 4 daughters,
Mary Vaughan of Omaha, NE, Johnnie Thomas of Sioux City, IA,
Pearlie Burns and Lula Coulter of Jersey, and one sister, Roberta
Davis of Camden, 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 7
great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Batist Church on Sunday,
October 24, 1999, with Rev. Edward L. Watson officiating.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery by Marks Funeral Home.


WATSON, Marie

Mrs. Marie Lavern Watson, age 72, of Warren, died Thursday, July
18, 2002.

She was born Juy 26, 1929, in Camden to Viola Evelyn Strickland 
and the late Warren Lee Strickland, Sr.

She was a retired teacher, having graduated from AM&N College
in Pine Bluff.  She worked in Warren Public School and retired after
35 years of service. She was a faithful member of Union Hill Baptist
Church and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Viola Gray Strickland; 3
daughters, Kim J. Jones (Cephas) of Little Rock, Toni A. Bryant of
Malvern, and Gaye S. Roberson (Terence) of Warren; 3 brothers,
Rev. Warren L. Strickland, Jr. (Peaches) of Dermott, Robert H.
Strickland (Teen) of Portland, OR, and John E. Strickland (Fran) of 
Texarkana; one sister, E. Gail Woolfolk (Garry) of Oro Valley, AZ;
3 grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Jones, Parris Kimberly Bryand and
Colton Matthew Davis; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Watson.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Union Hill
Missionary Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. Kenneth L. Dawn
officiating.  Interment was in Union Cemetery in Warren by M. Davis 
Strickland Funeral Home of Dermott.

Active pallbearers were Mark Strickland, Patrick Strickland, Dr. Warren
Strickland, III, Gerald Watson, Mike Thomas, Ralph Lovett, Walter
Weston and James Watson.

Honorary pallbearers were Cephas Jones, Joshua Jones, John Strickland,
Terence Roberson, Robert Strickland and Warren Strickland, Jr.


WAYNE, Leola

Leola H. Wayne, age 76, of Warren, died November 13, 2001, at
Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pine Bluff.

She was born March 28, 1925, in Ingalls, the daughter of the late Joseph
Harris and Artie Harris.  She was a mother and a housewife, and a
member of St. James AME Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Davis and Darla Wayne Blackmon;
four sons, Kenneth Wayne, Joe Wayne, Malik N. Blackmon, and Raymond E.
Harris Blackmon.

She was preceded in death by one son, Leo Wayne, and her husband,
Joe Hurley Wayne, Sr.

Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m, Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at
St. James AME Church in Warren.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery by
Hammons Funeral Home.


WEBB, Mrs. Inita

Mrs. Inita Martin Webb, 70, died recently.

Mrs. Webb was born at Johnsville in 1909 to the late Jack and Carrie Martin.
She was a member of the Palestine AME Church and later moved her 
membership to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church here in Warren.  She had been a
member of the usher board of Mt. Carmel.

She was the widow of Alberdeen Webb.

Her survivors include a son; six daughers; 22 grandchildren, 46 great 
grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Her funeral was Saturday at 11 at Mt. Carmel with pastor, the Rev. Louis
T. Walker, serving as officiant.

Rev. Ernest Belin, a grandson, was heard in the eulogy; another grandson,
the Rev. Raymond Belin, was heard in a solo.

An additional eulogy was pronounced by the Rev. Mr. Walker.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Anthony Fullmore, Lonnie, Ronnie, and
Kenneth Wayne Williams, Fitzgerald and Dante Thomas.

Interment was at Palestine Cemetery, Jonsville, with arrangements made
by Hammons & Son Funeral Home.

WELLS, Rachel

Rachel Wells, age 90 of Wilmar, died June 8, 2002, at Jefferson Regional
Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

Born July 9, 1911, she was the daughter of Ellis and Lelia Commons.
She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Wells of Chicago, IL., and
Helen Wells of Wilmar; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Wells, 5 sons, one
daughter, 2 sisters, Ellen Rhodes and Vastie Jackson, and one brother, Fred
Commons.

Funeral services were Sunday, June 16, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in
Wilmar with Rev. Floyd Daniels officiating, Eulogy was by Rev. Roscoe Rhodes.
Burial was in Wilmar Cemetery by Hammon Funeral Home.


WHEELER, Heathen C.

Heathen Charles Wheeler, age 25, died October 16, 2002, in Little Rock.  He was
born January 1, 1977, in Warren, the son of Bobby C. and Mary Sue Wheeler.

He was employed by Home Depot.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Shayla Tramone Wheeler of Hampton and Trinesha
Mochelle Wheeler of Warren; his parents, Bobby C. and Mary Sue Wheeler of
Warren; 3 sisters, Cynthia Michelle Wheeler, Guinna Faye Wheeler and Shamara
Wheeler, all of Warren; his grandmother, Mae E. Tate, of Warren; a special friend,
Manessa Johnson of Little Rock; 6 nephews, one niece, 4 uncles, 8 aunts, 2 great-
aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at Holy Deliverance Church of
God in Christ with Elder Nolan Phillips, Jr. officiating.

Burial was in El Bethel Cemetery in Hermitage by Hammons Funeral Home.


WILEY, Grady, Sr.

Grady Wiley, Sr., age 83, died August 17, 2000, at the Beverly Nursing Home.

He was born October 17, 1916, the son of the late Will and Katy Wiley.

Survivors include his wife, Abesteen Wiley, Warren; 1 son, Grady Wiley, Jr.,
Warren; 2 daughters, Clyde Mae Childs, Milwaukee, WI and Mildred Randall,
Harrell; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and 
friends.

He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Stella Taggart; 2 sons, James
Oliver and Jessie Lee Oliver; 2 sisters, Gladys Gannaway and Madris Campbell;
and 1 brother, Jessie Johnson.

Funeral services were held Wednedsay, August 23, 2000 at Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church.  Rev. J. L. Caldwell officiated.

Burial was in Childs Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


WILLIAMS, Bernice

Bernice Tatum Williams, age 86, of Hermitage, died Tuesday, December 4,
2001, at Bradley County Medical Center.

Born January 26, 1915, in Banks, she was the daughter of Sterling Tatum and
Dossie Boswell Tatum.

She was a housewife and a member of Weary Rest Baptist Church in Marsden.

Survivors include her husband, Crawford Williams of Warren; one son, Albert
Williams (Betty) of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Ida Hines of Warren; 2 sisters,
Mae Ruth Berry of Fordyce and Ida Bell Collins of Las Vegas, NV; 11 grandchildren
and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 8, 2001, at Weary Rest Baptist Church
in Marsdon with Rev. Robert Cunningham officiating.  Burial was in Childs

Cemetery in Banks by Marks Funeral Home of Fordyce.


WILLIAMS, Carl

Carl Edward Williams, age 47, died November 24, 2001, at Bradley County
Medical Center.

He was born February 21, 1954, the on of Nathaniel and Carrie Lee Williams.

Other family surviving include 5 brothers, Billy Williams (Karen) of Dallas, TX,
Cardell Williams (Ruthie) and Bobby Williams (Litdean), all of St. Louis, MO, 
Lonnie Williams (Verlina) of Pine Bluff and Ronnie Williams of Warren; one
sister, Clara Williams of Houston, TX; 8 aunts, 5 uncles, nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and friends and his fiancee, Ella Webb.

Funeral services were Thursday, November 29, 2001, at Mt. Carmel Missionary
Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Hampton oficiating.

Burial was in Moss Hill Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.

Christian Bernard Williams die October 14, 2001.

He was born June 17, 2001, the son of Valerie Turner and Kirkpatrick Williams.

Survivors include his mother, Valerie Turner of Warren; his father, Kirkpatrick
Williams of Benton; 2 brothers, Xavier Turner of Warren and Brandon Williams
of Benton; 2 sisters, Traonne Turner of Warren and Shanice Williams of 
Benton; grandparents, Randy and Samella Turner of Banks and
Allen and Bessie Williams of Buckner; uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, October 20, 2001, at Hammons Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Nelson Spencer officiating.

Burial was in Childs Cemetery.


WILLIAMS, Rufus, Jr.

Rufus Williams, Jr., age 68, died December 6, 2000, at Pine Lodge Nursing Home.

He was born April 30, 1932, in Hermitage, the son of the late Rufus Williams and
Catherine Jones.

He was a retired saw mill worker for Potlatch Corporation.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Dewayne Williams of Fordyce; four daughters,
Teresa Hawkins, Sharon (Thomas) Brazil, and Sandra Morris of Fordyce, and Julia
Swift Williams of Warren; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Icephine) Jones;
two sisters, Bertha Jones and Gloria (James) Daniels; nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 9 at the Hammons Funeral Home Chapel. 
Pastor Thomas Brazil officiated.  Burial was in Weary Rest Cemetery.


WILSON, Gussie

Gussie Lee McNeary Wilson, age 87, of Wilmar, died July 24, 2002, at Drew
Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 2, 1915, in Wilmar, the daughter of the late John and Lizzie 
Jackson Rawls.

Survivors include one daughter, Dollie (Jerry) Sanders, Wilmar; 3 sisters, Ruby Lee
Hargraves, Gladys Rawls, and Uler Pauline Pamlen of Las Vegas, NV; 2 brothers,
James (Shirley) Rawls and Paul (Lee Etta) Rawls of Detroit, MI; 3 grandchildren, Janet
Sanders, Baltimore, MD, Vera Sanders and Jerriell of Wilmar; 4 great grandchildren,
Karris and Charles Frazier of Baltimore, MD, Kelton Sanders, Long Island, NY, and
Clayton Handley, Wilmar; one great grandchild, nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church
in Wilmar with Rev. Floyd Daniels officiating.  Burial was in Bethel Cemetery by Hammons
Funeral Home.


WIMBLEY, James "Son"

James "Son" Wimbley,age 91, died February 24, 1999, in the Bradley Medical
Center.

He was born August 9, 1907, the son of the late Willie L. and Ethel Wimbley in 
Wilmar.

He was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church where he served as Steward and was
a member of the Masonic Order, Onward Lodge No. 149 of Warren.  He organized
the gospel group, The Clouds of Joy, and sang for forty seven years.

Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Davis of Warren; three adopted daughters,
Polly Ann Cox of Toledo, OH, Doris Walls of Little Rock and Yolanda Edwards of
Toledo; a devoted friend, Tom Green; grandchildren; cousins and friends.

He was preceed in death by his wives, Ola Bell and Myrtle Gibson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 2;7, at 2:00 p'm. at St. John A.M.E.
Chruch. Rev. G.T. Blackman officiated.  Rev. John Simpson is the pastor.

Burial was in Wilmar Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.


YORK, Tamikia

Tamikia Lajoyce York, age 21, of Little Rock, died August 2, 2001, at Baptist Medical
Center in Little Rock.

She was born February 27, 1980, in warren, the daughter of Mary Jean York and
the late Earl D. York.

She was an insert operator.

Survivors include her mother, Mary York; two sisters, Sonja York and Shawnell York;
one brother, Earl V. York; three nieces, Treshanndia York, Skidaisha Hines and
Breanna York; one nephew, Cameron Eskridge; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other
relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 11, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist
Church, Johnsville.  Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home.
