She was born in Bradley County to the late Hurley and Ida York. Both parents and five brothers, Clyde, Oceola, Woodroe, James and John, preceded her in death. Reola attended school in Bradley County. She was one of the first founders and members of Mars Hills Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL., She ws a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Chruch in Warren. Reola was married to Mr. Floyd Salter. Survivors include six daughters, Carolyn (Eugene) Penister and Eva Daniels of Chicago, IL, Ann Salter of Warren, Glenda (Milton) McCloud of Georgetown, IL, Debra Slater of Chicago, IL, Dean (Bill) Johnson of Warren; two sons, Willie (Kathy) Barnett of Ontario, CA, and Hurley Slater of Warren; one goddaughter, Linda Smith of Warren; a special friend, Mrs. Very McCray; two sisters-in- law, Gloria Green of Chicago, IL, and Carrie Mae Green of Portland, OR; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy (Dewayne) Eaton of Monroe, LA, and Don L. (Dorothy) York of Pasadena, CA, and Pauline Shaw of Warren; one uncle, Otis (Samella) Green; two aunts, Ruth and Beatrice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The funeral was Wednesday, November 22, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Warren with Rev. Silas Warner officiating. Burial was in Palastine Cemetery in Johnsville by Reddick Funeral Home. SMITH, Sharon Sharon Ann Smith, age 37, of Warren, died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at Bradley County Medical Center. She was born June 28, 1964, in Warren, the daughter of Grady and Gladys L. Smith. Other survivors include two daughters, Jessica A. Smith and Marquita Smith, both of Warren; one son, Elvin Smith of Warren; 4 sisters, Beverly (Kenneth) York, Swanjula L (Rodney) Lewis, Quinella (Floyd) Robinson, all of Warren, Bridgette (Greg) Starling of Woodbridge, VA; 2 brothers, Franky E. Smith and Anthony (Dana) Smith, all of Warren; 2 uncles, Oliver (Melba) Wright of Crossett and Virgil (Louise) Smith of Warren; 2 great-aunts, Edna (O. D.) Davis and O. V. Jones, 13 nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Saturday, December 8, 2001, at Holy Deliverance Church of God in Christ in Warren with Elder William Armour and Supt. Rochester Roger officiating. Burial was in El Bethel Cemetery in Hermitage by Hammons Funeral Home. STEPPES, Charles Lee Charles Lee Steppes, age 56, died February 14, 2001. He was born November 27, 1944 to Derrick and Rosa Steppes in Warren. He graduated from Bradley County High School and received his AA degre in business from Shorter College in North Little Rock. In 1964, he moved to California. He became a bus operator and served faithfully for 23 years. He retired from RTD, now MTA in 1997. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Ernestine; six children, Nechelle, Rochelle, Charles, Jr., Derrick, Dwayne and Reggie; five grandchildren; three brothers and spouses, Derrick, Jr. and Maxine Steppes of Warren, Terry C. and Audrey Steppes of Carson, California, and Bernard and Brenda Steppes of Los Angeles, California; three sisters, Ira "Emmett" Pickens, Barbara "Nash" Boxley, and Athlene Matlock, all of Los Angeles, California; mother-in-law, Laura Tedford; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were Monday, February 20, 2001, at Mount Carmel Holy Assembly Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California, with Rev. M. G. Owens officiating. Burial was in Mt. STEPPES, Theodore Theodore Roosevelt "Big Baby" Steppes, age 91, died February 18, 2001, at Bradley County Medical Center. He was born December 30, 1909 in Bradley County, the son of the late Matthew and Sally Steppes. He was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. Survivors include one daughter, Vivian; his care providers, nephews, Lenon (Flora) Steppes and Dirrck (Derrick?) (Maxine) Steppes, niece, Sally Ross, nephews, Edward (Mary), Charles (Annette), Robert (Larry) and George (Cherri); 2 grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva, 9 brothers and 8 sisters. Funeral services were Saturday, February 24, 2001, at Mt. Olive AME Church with Rev. E.J. Daniels officiating. Burial was in Mt Olive Cemetery by Hammons Funeral Home. TATE, Tobie Tyrone Tobie Tyrone Tate, age 27, died December 30, 2000 at the Bradley County Medical Center. Born September 23, 1973, he was the son of Arthur and Frances Tate of Wilmar. Other survivors include one son, Jahbreon Jordan of Wilmar; his fiancee, Michonda Jordon of Wilmar; two sisters, Paula Martin of Monticello and Tarra Tate of Wilmar; one brother, Kip Tate of Wilmar. THOMAS, Charlene Charlene Thomas, age 81, of Hermiage, died January 6, 2002, at Bradley County Medical Center. She was born November 30, 1920, the daughter of the late Earnest and Minnie Jones. She was a member of New Light Baptist Church and was retired from Hermitage High School. Survivors include one sister, Mattie L. Williams of Warren; one brother, Franklin Jones of Hermitage; 6 nieces, 6 nephews, one step-daughter, Dorothy Beavers, and a very special person, Teresa Ventresco of Huntington Beach, CA; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Saturday, January 12, 2002, at New Light Baptist Church, Hermigate, with Rev. James Carroll and Rev. Earl Thomas officiating.
