LOLLEY - My maternal great grandfather was Gilbert L. Lolley who lived in Montgomery Co., AR. I would like to find out where he died. I was wondering if anyone who may have the Western Arkansas Death Record Index 1914-1923 would check to see if he is in it?  I know he died 1911-1920.
I would also like to find someone who would be willing to check at the circuit court's office in Montgomery Co., AR for a marriage license/certificate that would have taken place between 1900-1910. I would also like to make contact with anyone researching this surname or that has information involving this surname. He had been married before and there were children but, I do not know what became of them.

The only Lolley listed in the marriage book: J.R. Lolley age 30 m. Martelia McLean age 18 on 26 Dec. 1917.  Book D page 595. County Clerk's office. Is this Gilbert L. Lolley related?

WHISNANT / PETTITT
: I am looking for information on Margaret Mahala (?) Whisnant Pettitt. She is from North Carolina, born there about 1822 and is listed in the 1860 Montgomery County census as Whisnant and the 1880 Montgomery County census as Pettitt. I don't know her maiden name, nor the names of her parents.

She married two times in Montgomery County:
First to "Mr" Whisnant, about 1845
Then to Zacharriah M. Pettitt, Jan or Feb 22, 1865

She had 6 children by Whisnant, all born in Montgomery County and at least one by Pettitt, also born in Montgomery County.

Her son Robert James (or James Robert) Whisnant and daughter Chlora Pettitt both moved to Oklahoma later. I believe she did also. I can locate the children in census records or cemetery listings, but nothing on the mother. Robert was in Frisco, OK (Pontotoc County) and Chlora was married to a "Craig" in Stephens Co.

PATTERSON: Am looking for the family of Abraham Marion Patterson, born 1824 in Winston-Salem, NC. Married about 1846 somewhere in Georgia, and moved about 1850-52 to the Big Fork, AR, are, which seems to have been shifted back and forth between Montgomery and Polk Counties a few times. The main thing I need is the name of his wife at the time, and I realize her maiden name would probably not be available in the AR census records; but even a first name and possible birth county in GA would help. They had two small girls, Lucinda and Elvira (and perhaps a third, Louisa b. 1852) when they arrived, and had two sons there, Henry Marion b. 9-18-1853 and James W. b. 1857. This wife then died, he married Nancy Bates on 7-24-1859, and they had nine children by 1878, about which time they left for LA and then OK. I realize that the AR censuses will not be of much help re his first wife since they arrived there after 1850 and she died before 1860, but perhaps someone out there has access to mortality schedules or other death records that would show her. Would also appreciate any concrete census or other information available on the family in 1860-1880, including the new wife Nancy and both sets of children.

LUCAS: Seeking information on the Lucas family, residents of 1910 Montgomery Co., Ark. Who was H.C. Lucas, purchaser of the real estate of Brice Cunningham, deceased? Who was Mrs. Lucas, distributee of the Cunningham estate?

DIED AT BLACK SPRINGS, B. N. V. CUNNINGHAM
The deceased was born at Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, January 19, 1842, and died at Black Springs, Arkansas, February 13, 1909, being 57 years and 25 days of age. Not withstanding the deceased had been in failing health for several months, his death was a great shock. He was sitting in his chair last Saturday evening apparently in better health than for some time past. About 8:30 the wind, rain and hail storm came up, somewhat exciting him when there came a heavy clap of thunder. This brought on heart trouble and he expired within fifteen minutes. Mr. Cunningham was an ex-Confederate soldier, a good citizen, and a man who won the friendship of those with whom he associated. He leaves a wife, a step son, A. L. SMITH of Slatington, a niece, Mrs. Irena STEWART, landlady of the City Hotel at this place, three brothers, one sister, and many friends to mourn his death. The interment took place at the Black Springs cemetery Monday afternoon, Rev. Howell conducted the services. Source: Newspaper Article, unidentified newspaper, date unavailable.  Another researcher.

JONES/HULSEY:  I am researching my ggrandfather, William Andrew JONES, born 2 January, 1867 in Arkansas, possibly in Montgomery County.  His mother was Nancy HULSEY and his father was Joseph JONES.  Nancy was living in the household of J. D. Moore in Marzan Twsp in the 1870 Census along with William.  She was listed as a domestic servant.  I do know that her brother, Benjamin Franklin HULSEY, was living in Montgomery County at that time.  I know nothing about Joseph JONES except that he was possibly part Indian, per family info.  I am particularly interested in the JONES side of my family.  Nancy and Joseph were not married, also per family info.  Would appreciate any help with my JONES family.

DONALDSON: I am seeking information on my great-great grandparents, who I believe may have been in Montgomery Co. AR. in the 1870's and perhaps into the late 1880's. They were Jon J.C. Donaldson and Cynthia Campbell Donaldson. They left Attala Co. Miss. sometime in the middle or late 1870's headed for Texas or Oklahoma. They must have stopped somewhere around Caddo Gap, as their oldest son, Oliver Alexander M. Donaldson, married Sarah E. Huggins there in 1878. Oliver's sister, Louise Missouri, married Andrew Hardman Welch, also of Caddo Gap. It is told in the family that Jon died sometime around 1887, and that his widow and children went back to Attala Co. Miss. Later they all moved to Louisiana. In the party with Jon and Cynthia, were Bulls, Burns, Birchfields and Sims. I have never been able to find the place that Jon and Cynthia actually lived, nor have I been able to find anything on his death or where he was buried. Does anyone have any information on this that may be of some help. I would greatly appreciate any information I can obtain.

MCKINNEY/CCOKBURN:
Would anyone have access to a copy of the newspaper for Montgomery or Garland for the time period of July 18, 1922 or the following 2 weeks. (or whatever the time period would be in)  I am looking for the obituary for: William McKinney, his date of death is July 18, 1922.  His wife, Martha Cockburn/Cogburn McKinney was alive at the time of his death. His home was in the old Elnora/Silver Springs area.

Apparently the Arkansas Vital Statistics doesn't have death certificates for the majority of 1922, or all of that year.(Got this from the registrar, the people in the office of vital statistics don't know this, so you pay for a look-up of something that should be there, that isn't).

Check the Arkansas Death Index first. Available at major public libraries and Montgomery County Library.
