I am trying to find info on the Prison at Shark Arkansas and proof of my grandmother's birth, in Shark Arkansas. My G Grandfather worked at the Prison. He was supposedly a Prison Guard during the 1870-90's. His name was Issac Perry Singleton. I'll check back later for the Historical society pages, and board. Thank You! Vicki

I am looking for any info on the WOLFF family found on 1870 Yell Co. Census. ADELINE WOLFF is listed at 20 years of age and the head of the household. Siblings listed as Ann, Newton, Michael, and Jane are listed living with her. I believe these to be the children of HENRY and NANCY DODD WOLF found on 1860 Scott Co., Ar. Census. The parents possibly died during the Civil War years. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ray
I am looking for the ray families from Yell cty, ark. Would you look up in your files on the David ray or Joseph Ray. They came their in 1860, 1870, 1880 in yell cty, ark. I have them on the census, they married into the underwood, lewis, mccutchen families. These families came from Gibson cty, tn and from Wake cty, TN. Would very much if you can help me. cindy

My name is Amelia Allen and I am doing research on my husbands family. Joe D Allen who married Mary Susan Spears in 1882, they had three children that we know of Edward R Allen, George W Allen and an unknown named baby girl. I have information about the following family, who were in Yell Co., Ar. in the 1860s:

The federal census from Yell Co., Ar. shows the following family in Petit Jean, Ward Township, Yell Co., Ar. in 1860: Perryman MCCULLOUGH, 44, farmer; Francis, 38, and the following household members: Louisa, female, 21; Augustus, male, 19; Bernetta, female, 17; Jefferson, male, 15; George, male, 13; Jackson, male, 11; Antony, male, 9; Mandy, female, 4. Also listed on the census page following the above, were probable family members Jefferson MOORE, 20, and Asa MCCULLOUGH, 20. The family is found on the 1850 census in Chickasaw Co., Ms. According to Yell County probate records, Francis MCCULLOUGH administered the estate of her husband, Perryman, in the mid 1860s. Francis is buried in the Midway Cemetery, Calhoun Co., Ms. The daughter, Burnetta, married William ELLISON in Chickasaw Co., Ms. in 1867 and that family moved to Navarro Co., Tx. in 1871.

Franklin Eugene Black, who was born about 1854 in Union, South Carolina and died 21 April 1939 in Yell County, Arkansas.

He married June 4, 1884 in Yell County, Arkansas, Rosetta Garner, who was born in South Carolina and died in Arkansas.

They had the following children:

Amy E. Black, b about 1887; Yell, Arkansas and d Oct 1, 1926; Yell Arkansas


 

Ester L. Black, b about 1892; Yell, Arkansas and d ?


 

Minnie R Black, b about 1895; Yell, Arkansas and d ?
