These nine brass military issued headstones have been placed flat on ground and over time will become over grown and disappear underneath the weeds the soil. Looks like there is ant activity in the cemetery causing rusty colored soil to be spread on the headstones:

United States has a tradition of bringing of the bodies of
soldiers who died overseas back. Looks like we have two at the Barber Cemetery.

He is on the 1900 census, Leverney Twp, Sheet 11, 131.11B, for Montgomery Co.
DOB 1848 with his wife Nancy b. 1844. Had been married for 32 years with six
children, all still living in 1900. His parents were born in Alabama. He was a
farmer and could read and write.

died Dec. 11, 1930. Mrs. Francis McCullough of Sims, Arkansas, Montgomery Co.
applied for the Headstone Jan.31, 1931. It was shipped to Mrs. Francis
McCullough at Norman, Montgomery Co., Arkansas on April 27, 1931. It also said
it verified at Columbus, Miss. on April 6, 1931. The cemetery is listed as
Barber at or near Sims, Arkansas.
