Boone County Headlight, July 12, 1979 Issue: Euna P. JOHNSON, 83, of Pyatt. Euna Pearl JOHNSON, aged 83, of Pyatt, died at the Marion County Hospital, Thursday, July 5. She was born April 12, 1896, at Pyatt, a daughter of William A. and Lou Anna ALEXANDER STONECIPHER. She was a housewife and member of Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Elmer J. JOHNSON, Council Bluffs, Ia.; a daughter Maxine ALLEN, Pyatt; a brothers, Guy STONECIPHER, Kansas, Okla.; two sisters, Ada CLEVENGER, Aurora, Mo., and Zella RICHARDS, Benton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, in Pyatt Baptist Church. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Marvin ALLEN, Michael ALLEN, James GILLILAND, Roger JOHNSON, Ronnie JOHNSON, Connie INGRAM, and Jim MARTIN.

The Mountain Echo, August 30, 1979 Issue: Media CASS. Media CASS, age 94, of Yellville, died Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Marshall Nursing Center in Marshall. Mrs. CASS was born Dec. 29, 1884 in Newton County to John and Julie SPEERS REYNOLDS. A housewife, she lived most of her life in Marion County. Mrs. CASS was a member of the Christian Church in Yellville. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Reba BIRRER of Yellville; one sister, Allie MCBEE of Harrison; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Bowers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Hollis HALL, Dan GARRETT, John BIRRER, Fred BURROW, Jim BOGLE and Carl RAMEY. Arrangements were under the direction of the Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

BYNOG, DOWDEN, PORRIER, RAWLINGS Death Date Sunday, November 4, 1979
The Baxter Bulletin, November 8, 1979 Issue: Yellville youth dies, brothers are injured in wreck Sunday. Jeremiah S. DOWDEN, 16 of Yellville was killed, and two of his brothers were injured, in a one-car accident about 10 p.m. Sunday on State Highway 14 at Yellville, according to Yellville Chief of Police George Wilson. Injured were Timothy DOWDEN, 17, and Victor A. DOWDEN, 19, both also of Yellville. Timothy was taken to the Marion County Hospital where his injuries were treated and he was dismissed, and Victor DOWDEN was taken to Baxter General Hospital and transferred to St. John's Hospital at Springfield, Mo. A spokesman at St. John's said yesterday (Wednesday) that he was in satisfactory condition in the surgical intensive care unit. Wilson said the auto, a 1973 Ford Torino was driven by Timothy. He said the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel, the car left the road on the right, skidded 150 feet and struck a utility pole and a tree. He said the two passengers were thrown from the vehicle. Jeremiah DOWDEN was born Aug. 30, 1963 at Natchitoches, La., the son of James T. DOWDEN and Geneva BYNOG DOWDEN. A laborer at the DX Service Station in Yellville, he had been a resident of Marion County for four years, and a previous resident of Harrison. Survivors, in addition to his parents of Yellville, include six brothers, Victor DOWDEN, Timothy DOWDEN, Tommy DOWDEN, David DOWDEN and John DOWDEN, all of Yellville, and Donald DOWDEN of Natchitoches; two sisters, Marie PORRIER of Yellville, and Diane RAWLINGS of Ville Platte, La.; and his grandparents, Nora DOWDEN and Joseph BYNOG, both of Natchitoches. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) at the Burns Chapel at Yellville, with Rev. Charles Harris officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Marion County. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home.

The Mountain Echo, December 6, 1979 Issue: Quince OTT. Quince H. OTT, age 95, of Yellville died in Marion County Nursing Home on Monday, Dec. 3. Mr. OTT was born in Wares Chapel in Marion County on Nov. 17, 1884 to M. John and Mary DOSHIER OTT. He was a lifetime resident of Marion County. Mr. OTT was the oldest living member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Ott celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last April 27. Survivors include his wife, Nora TREAT OTT of the nursing home; four daughters, Rosemary OTT, Donnie MCENTIRE, Edith JONES, all of Yellville, and Bonnie SMITH of Wichita, Kans.; two sons, Herbert OTT and J. B. OTT of Yellville; two sisters, Addie MORROW and Della BEARDEN, both of Yellville; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Crossman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Stevie H. A lifetime resident of Marion County, Mr. CALLAHAN was born April 8, 1906 to Wally and Mandy MATLOCK CALLAHAN. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Marion County Road Department. Survivors include one daughter, Nita BRIGHTON of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Larry CALLAHAN of Flippin, and Fred CALLAHAN of Lexington, Mo.; one brother, Claude CALLAHAN of Lake Wales, Fla.; one sister, Nettie WHALEY of Tahlequah, Okla.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and three step grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Dunn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. STUBBS was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 12, 1911 to Everett and Rovila PROVINE STUBBS. A retired self-employed construction worker, he had lived in Marion County for 24 years. He was a member of the Marion County Communication Club and served on the board of that organization for several years. Survivors include his wife, Wilma MARTIN STUBBS of the home; two daughters, Carol Brown of Reynolds, Mo., and Catherine CONWAY of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Don HOBBS of Yellville, and Tommy HOBBS of Dallas, Tex.; two brothers, Elwyn STUBBS of Manning, S. Caro., and Kenneth STUBBS of Franklin, N. Jer.; two sisters, Gertrude STUBBS of Atlantic City, N. Jer., and Lea FIELDHOUSE of Ventnor, N. Jer.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A lifetime resident of Marion County, he was retired from a feed store operation which he owned. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church. Born March 24, 1910 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Doc OTT and Jane HOLLAWAY OTT. He and the former Edith SMOTHERS were married Jan. 23, 1974. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Taney FRANKS, in 1973. Survivors include his wife of Flippin; two sons, Joe Ott of Knob Noster, Mo., and Marion "Dude" OTT of Chilhowee, Mo.; one step son, Raymond Williams of Flippin; seven brothers, Romie OTT of Weleetka, Okla., Troy OTT of Hugo, Okla., Roy OTT of Hugo, Jessie OTT of Ridge Crest, Calif., Joy OTT of Shafter, Calif., Ralph OTT of Tacoma, Wash., and Archie OTT of Tacoma; two sister, Lillian MEARS of Yakima, Wash., and Virginia OTT of Weleetka; two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. A lifetime resident of Marion County, Keith was born on Feb. 11, 1969 to Ken and Candis GODT ZIEMER. He was a fifth grade student at Yellville-Summit Elementary School. Keith was a member of the Mountain Home Redeemer Lutheran Church. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken ZIEMER of the home; one brother, Kurt ZIEMER of the home; two sister, Kristine and Karolyn ZIEMER, both of the home; his grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Elmer ZIEMER of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Dorothy GODY of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Glen GODT of Canada. Mr. KEETER was born in Yellville and moved to Arizona in 1962. He was an electronics supervisor for the Goodyear Aerospace Company for the past 18 years. Survivors include his wife, Ruby of the home; his parents, Carl and Joyce KEETER, Yellville; three sons, Danny KEETER of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael KEETER of Branson, Mo., and Richard KEETER, Germany; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 7:45 p.m. Friday, June 13 in the Menke Funeral Home in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel BUNDY, and his second wife, Oma DOSHIER. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hattie LINCK of Flippin, and Mrs. Retha ROBISON of Yellville; one son, Fred OTT of Claremore, Okla.; one sister, Ida PARNELL of Flippin; eight grandchildren; and 14 grat grandchildren. Mr. ROPER was born in Pond Creek, Okla., on March 17, 1912 to John M. and Rose L. NORTON ROPER. He was a retired self-employed painter and moved to Marion County eight months ago from Sacramento, Calif. Mr. ROPER was a member of the Foursquare Church in Sacramento. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; two daughters, Linda HEMPHILL of Yellville, and Nancy TAYLOR of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three sons, Gary ROPER of Washington, D. C., David ROPER of Roseville, Calif., and Tim ROPER of Castle Rock, Colo.; one brother, John B. ROPER of South Gate, Calif.; two sisters, Iretha ROBINSON of Bakersfield, Calif.; and Modena HAWLEY of Ventura, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. SISE was born in Pueblo, Colo. on Feb. 16, 1919 to Lester P. and Kathryn SURIG MADDOX. A retired nurse, she had lived in Marion County for 11 years, having moved here from California. Survivors include her husband, Joe SISE of the home; one daughter, Nita Kay SISE of the home; three sons, Norman C. SISE of West Covena, Calif., David Ricky SISE of Guam, and Billy Joe SISE OF Fayetteville, S. Caro.; one brother, Bob MADDOX of Arkansas; two sisters, Darlene BUOY and Etolie LARUE, both of Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. On Oct. 15, 1949 to Harold and Virginia LINK NIEWOLD. The family moved here eight months ago from Sarasota, Fla., where she worked as a teletypist for Sears, Roebuck Co. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fla. Survivors include her husband, David ADKINS of the home; three sons, David, Ernest and Michael, all of the home; two brothers, Harold NIEWOLD and William NIEWOLD, both of Sarasota, Fla.; four sisters, Mary COOPER, Cora LAPAN, Joan NIEWOLD, all of Sarasota, Fla., and Diane SAIN of Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4 in the Burns Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lee Bowers officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The Mountain Echo, April 2, 1981 Issue: George HORNER. George H. HORNER, age 96, of Yellville, died on Monday, March 23, at Marion County Hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. HORNER was born to John and Zula KEETER HORNER on July 3, 1884. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, and had lived in Marion County all his life. George HORNER is survived by his wife of eight years, Margaret HILTON HORNER, and one son Vernon HORNER of Yakima, Washington. Other survivors include a sister, Myrtle SMADE, of Homedale, Idaho, a daughter, Mrs. Inez PYLE of Yellville, and a step daughter, Margaret Alice SWARTZ of Hagerstown, Maryland. He had four grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. George HORNER was preceded in death by his first wife in 1973. Services were held at New Hope Baptist Church on Friday afternoon, with the Rev. Hammond James officiating, and he was buried in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.

The Mountain Echo, March 26, 1981 Issue: Euna PHILLIPS, age 40, of Flippin, died at Bull Shoals Hospital on Monday, March 23rd. She was born May 4th, 1938, in Yellville, to Omer and Pauline MELTON, and lived most of her life in Marion County. She married LeRoy PHILLIPS, of Flippin, on November 21st, 1956, and the couple had four children and two grandchildren. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church, and worked as a beautician at Head Hunters in Bull Shoals. Survivors include her parents and husband, and daughters, Rhonda Kay PHILLIPS and Marsha Gay HUDSON of Flippin, and Mary Ruth BLASDEL of Fayetteville; one son, Allen Lee of Booneville, Miss.; and two grandchildren, Health and Kosley HUDSON of Flippin. The funeral was held at Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Richard Gregory and Sam Williams officiating. She was buried at Pleasant Rdige Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Burns Funeral Home.

The Mountain Echo, June 25, 1981 Issue: Allen A. SETZER. Allen A. (Humpy) SETZER, age 62, of Bentonville, died in Bentonville Hospital on Tuesday, June 16. He was born in Rush on July 5, 1919. Survivors include his mother, Virgie SETZER of Bentonville; one brother, Joe VOLF of Bentonville; one sister, Zella Mae Carleton of Rush; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Bentonville Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. At 4 p.m. Burial and services were held at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in rural Yellville.

The Mountain Echo, a July 1981 Issue: Arza E. HALL. Arza E. HALL, age 81, of Yellville died in the Marion County Nursing Home on Saturday, July 25. Mr. HALL was born in Marion County of Feb. 15, 1900 to Ky and Elizabeth JONES HALL. A lifetime resident of Marion County, he was a former Marion County sheriff, a farmer and a cattleman. He was a member of the Flippin Church of Christ, and was also a school teacher. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Pat BROWN of Orlando, Fla.; one son, H. C. HALL of Yellville; three brothers, Bob HALL of Oakland, Calif., Vern and Clarence Hall, both of Yellville; four sisters, Mrs. Ida GIBSON of Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Vida HOGSED of Flippin, Mrs. Velma INGRAM of Ft. Worth, Tex., and Mrs. Addie MEARS of Yellville; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zela, and one brother, A. J. HALL. Funeral services were held Monday, July 27 at 2 p.m. in Burns Chapel with Doyle and Virgil Davenport officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Altus DOSHIER, Walton JEFFERSON, Hollis HALL, Tommy MORROW, Fred BURROW and Jack AKINS. Honorary pallbearers were Lyle WOOD, G. W. OTT, A. W. BIRRER, Hobart ALLEN, Lester JEFFERSON, Fay JEFFERSON, Ray BLANKENSHIP, Tobe DAFFRON, Herbert MURRAY, Keith HAMLET, Jewell MORROW, Dr. L. A. KELLEY, Dr. Robert AHRENS, Bill ALLEN and Joe MELTON. Arrangements were under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Yellville.
