Mt. Echo Newspaper September 16, 1887 issue: An odd wedding took place last Monday in the clerk's office. The contracting parties being Mr. G. W. PATTERSON and Mrs. COLESON nee BARTON. Mrs. COLESON was the wife of Bud COLESON, having separated from him about three years ago. PATTERSON was soon afterward sentenced to prison at Detroit, Mich. for two years for violating the revenue law in Searcy county. The woman then sued for and obtaining a divorce from COLESON. PATTERSON, having served his time out, returned Sunday to his lover, and not having been legally married to her, they both came to town Monday, obtained the license and had the ceremony performed according to the law. Rev. J. H. Bradford officiated. -- Baxter County Citizen --

Mt. Echo Newspaper, Oct 21, 1887 Issue: Mr. Z. M. HORTON and Miss Kate HICKS, both of Mtn. Home, were married on Sunday, the 9th inst. Mr. HORTON is an able young lawyer, and his bride is said to be one of Baxter county's fairest and most accomplished young women. The marriage ceremony was performed by Elder H. H. Hilton while the bride and groom sat in their buggy - in other words, it was a marriage on wheels. Zeph's many friends over here send congratulations.

Mt. Echo Newspaper Oct 21, 1887 Issue: MARRIED. THOMPSON-MORROW. At the residence of the bride's father, six miles southeast of Yellville, at 1 o'clock Wednesday, October 19th, 1887. Mr. James I. THOMPSON, of Yellville, to Miss Octavia MORROW, Judge W. M. Horn officiating. The marriage was a very quiet affair, only a few near relatives and friends being invited. In the afternoon the happy couple came to town and are at present boarding with Mr. W. I. Lefevers. They expect to do house-keeping soon in the house formerly occupied by K. J. Hudson. Mr. THOMPSON is one of our most worthy young men and a popular salesman at W. Q. Seawel's establishment, and his bride is a most amiable lady. Many friends of the young couple wish them a long life of happiness and of prosperity........

Mt. Echo Newspaper Nov 15, 1887 issue: Married. LAYTON-HURST. - At the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. HURST, about four miles east of Yellville, on Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock, Mr. George W. LAYTON, of Oakland, Ark., to Miss Huldah HURST, by Rev. J. H. WADE. Quite a large number of the friends and relatives of the couple were present to witness the marriage and offer congratulations. A bounteous supper was served, and as far as we can learn, all went merry as the traditional wedding bells. On Monday afternoon after dining with the family of Mr. A. S. LAYTON, of this place, the newly married couple departed for Oakland, where they will reside and where Mr. LAYTON is engaged in business. The Echo wishes them all manner of success and happiness.
