                          July 4th Sixtieth Anniversary
                                of Post-War Democrat

Moore returned here from the CivilWar to find his press and material destroyed. In 1868 W. B. and E.B.Moore, sons of the founder, bought out the Arkansian, Boudinot's paper,
and the first post-war number was printed as a continuance of that on July 4, 1868.
In 1884 it was purchased by Sam E. Marrs and J. N. Tillman, the former serving as editor. In    1893 the daily edition was first issued by Miss Payne.
Jay Fulbright and Allan Gates bought the paper, daily and weekly, in 1913,the latter serving as editor and manager for several years, and who sold his interest to Dr. Charles Richardson in 1917, who served as editorial
writer until his death. J.D. Hurst, present business manager, succeeded Gates as editor and manager, serving until the entrance of
America in the World War. He was succeeded by Mrs. Lessie S. Read, incumbent.
