Smith - Morgan Cemetery

DIRECTIONS: Located .5 mile south of Hwy. 8 in the Smith Chapel community between Fordyce and New Edinburg. Section 6, Township11, Range 11.
HISTORY: The Cemetery was established by Washington B. Smith as a family burial ground soon after he migrated to this community from Montgomery County, Alabama in 1836. The first grave is that of his mother-in-law, Grandmother Reaves, mother of his first wife Fannie Jane (Reaves). This grave is marked by a tall marble slab with no name or dates and is located in the center back of the cemetery.
