Richard Breathwaite

Richard Breathwaite died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. Leali, on March 3rd, 1907.

He was born near Lisbon, Ireland, Sept. 21st, 1819. He came to this country in 1848 in a sailing vessel; returned to Ireland in 1852 where he married Miss Mary Havron Sept. 25th, 1852, and started back to America with his bride, but they were shipwrecked in a storm and they decided it to be the best for his wife to return to Ireland and for him to come on and let her follow later. In six months she started to America and again joined her husband at Mobile, Alabama, where they located and lived until 1856 when they imigrated to Arkansas where they lived until his death, his wife having died a few years before on August 25th 1905. To their union eight children were born, three of whom died in childhood, five survive: John H. Breathwaite, of Rowell, Mrs. S.B. Gibson, of Annover, Madames Rebecca Winters and J.W. Scales, of Pine Bluff, and Mrs. Chas. Leali, of Kingsland.
