Rebecca Elizabeth (Garner) Freer
Rebecca Elizabeth Garner Freer, 79 of Ivan died Tuesday. She was born September 1, 1925, in Cleveland County, the daughter of William McTerrell Garner and Florence Burford Garner. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and had worked as a sales clerk for Western Auto for 22 years.
One sister, Esther Irvin, and one grandchild, James Craig Freer, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, J.C. Freer, Jr. of Ivan; one son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Marilyn Freer of Kingsland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Glen Brandon of Kingsland, Susan Freer of Maumelle, Kathy and Jerry Hardman of Ivan and Davao City, Philippines ; one brother, Glendon Garner of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Elsie Steffens of Aurelia, Iowa, Dorine Reeves of Warren; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Burial at Garner Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church, American Lung Association or Garner Cemetery Association.
