Homer Dale Akines

Homer Dale Akines age 57 of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born June 5, 1948 in McGehee, a son of the late Lawrence Akines and Linnie McGriff Akines. Mr. Akines attended Watson Chapel High School, served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Central Moloney after 37 years of service, was a member of the JDD Hunting Club at Rison and was a member of Kearney Baptist Church at Redfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Davis Akines who died on July 18, 1998; one brother, Jirel Akines.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wagoner Akines of Pine Bluff whom he married on June 28, 2003; one son, Tyler Dale Akines of Pine Bluff; two daughters and sons -in-law, Maisie and Robert Varnell of Pine Bluff, Misty and Matthew Dunham of Rison; two brothers, Edward Akines of White Hall, Claudie Akines of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother Billy Burks and Brother Dewey Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery near Rison. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mike Davis, Timmy Davis, Stan Motsinger, Tyler Akines, Rick Wagoner, Billy Wagoner, Larry Wagoner and Jeff Wagoner. Memorials may be made to Kearney Baptist Church.
