Submitted by Jack W. James Old Fort Smith High School was destroyed by a tornado on Jan. 11, 1898.

The photo below is the new high school after the tornado.
It became Ft. Smith Junior High when the new High School was built
and today is Darby Jr. High School Named after Ft. Smith WWII hero William O. Darby.
