Mrs. Alice J. Shelby (died Dec 10, 1928) Submitted by Lula Faye Webb-Scott Mrs. Alice J. Shelby, 78 years old, a resident of Barling, Ark., for about 70 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.B. Barling at Barling Monday morning at 4 o'clock. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the White cemetery near Central, Ark. Putman's Funeral home will be in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Shelby came to Arkansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crockett, when she was about 8 years old. Her husband, George J. Shelby, died in October, 1927. Since that time Mrs. Shelby had made her home with her daughter. Surviving relatives are: Two daughters, Mrs. A.D. Barling and Mrs. ? H. Barling, both of Barling, Ark.; two sons, Thad R. Shelby of Stockton, Calif, and George B. Shelby of Barling, and a borther, John Crockett of Cumberland, Okla. In addition to the immediate family she is survived by 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
