James W. Rutherford, one of Sebastian County's best and most exemplary citizens, died at this home in Sulphur township, nine miles from the city, last Monday at 9 A.M. from an ulcer in the throat from which he has long suffered.
He was 47 years of age and leaves a wife and 5 children to mourn his untimely end. His remains were interred at Steep Hill cemetery on Wednesday. Jim Rutherford was most widely know and highly esteemed whose loss will be keenly felt by the community where he has lived form many years. His first wife was sister of Mr. J.J. McAlester of McAlester, C.N., who arrived here on Tuesday evening to attend the funeral--she died several years ago Mr. Rutherford married Mrs. Lizzie Ward--sister of Mr. Wm. McCarther, who survives him. We extend to the family and relatives of the deceased our utmost sympathy.
