Walter D. McAlister, 72 year old retired cotton gin operator who died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. Thelma Hannah was buried at City Cemetery Monday.
Mr. McAlister for many years operated a cotton gin at Burnville about four miles east of Greenwood. He retired a few years ago because of ill health.
Funeral service was held Monday at 2pm at the McConnell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.B. Maxwell, pastor of the First Baptist church of Greenwood officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the McConnell Funeral home of Greenwood.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Hannah and Mrs. Theda Denson, both of Greenwood and a son Harris McAlister of Greenwood; four sisters Mrs. A.F. Johnson of Burnville, Mrs. Florence Croom of Fort smith, Mrs. John Gross of Witcherville and Mrs. Ada Nelson of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
