Billie Franklin Wilkerson was born August 12, 1921 Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Charley Jefferson & Thursa Griffin Wilkerson. December 28, 1946 he married Betty Jo Martin from Hackett, Sebastian Co., Ar. His residence was Greenwood, Ar.

February 16, 1942 Billie registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army September 8, 1942 at Little Rock, Arkansas. His residence was Orange Co., California. He states he has one year of college and his civil occupation is "Unskilled oilers of machinery". He served with the Army until March 24, 1946.

Billie Franklin Wilkerson passed away October 15, 2009 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. where he lived. His burial was in the National Cemetery there.

Bill Wilkerson,
88, of Fort Smith, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009. He was born August 12, 1921 in Greenwood, AR to the late Charlie and Thursa Wilkerson. He was retired Salesman from Midwest Lumber Company, Charter Member, Deacon and former Treasurer of Haven Heights Baptist Church, former Sebastian County Justice of the Peace and a member of the Harris Hannah VFW Post #6527 in Greenwood, AR. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brothers Troy and Perry Wilkerson, a sister Louise Solesbee and son-in-law Glenn Brown.

He is survived by two daughters Frankie Turner and husband Glen of Fort Smith and Donna Brown of Bella Vista, three sisters Laverne McCorkle, Berneice Dyer and Sue Dobbs all of Greenwood, sister-in-law Betty Wilkerson of Fort Smith, seven grandchildren Derek Turner and wife Shannon of Little Rock, Jolee Rowland and husband Matt of Germany, Terri Turner of Los Angeles, CA, Fanya Scantling and husband Travis of Bentonville, Ryan Brown of Alma, Ginger Lawson and husband Aaron of Bentonville and Crystal Brown of Reading, PA, eleven great grandchildren Caroline and Nicholas Turner, Landen, Hayden and Jordyn Rowland, Maisie, Kennedi, Brigham and Emeri Scantling, Alexander and Kade Lawson and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Haven Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Neal Prock officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: Derek Turner, Ryan Brown, Travis Scantling, Aaron Lawson, Grady Stone and Joe White.
