Lawrence David Whittaker was born November 3, 1922 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Ar.
to Louie Alexander, Sr. & Amy Hamlind Morris Whittaker. He married
Helen Ruth Hopkins at San Antonio, Texas October 2, 1943.
Lawrence registered for the military draft June 30, 1942 in Van Buren,
Crawford Co., Ar. On the front of his draft card he says his employer is
"Air Corps". According to his biography below he did enlist in the US Air
Force December 1, 1942.
Lawrence David Whittakerwas killed in action July 2, 1944. He has a marker
in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. It isn't clear whether he is
buried there as he was killed on a bombing mission over Hungary.
