Samuel "Sam" John White 1924-2007

Samuel "Sam" John White was born December 11, 1924 at Lavaca, Sebastian Co.,
Arkansas to Sam Herschel & Lyda Liddie" Bell Barger White.
He married Bessie Harris from Charleston, Franklin Co., Ar.
June 25, 1945 in Sebastian County, Arkansas.
Sam enlisted in the US Air Force and served in WWII and Korea. Nothing
more is found about his service. His vocation much of his life
after military preaching.
Sam passed away March 3, 2007 at Bakersfiled, Kern Co., California.
Burial was in West Side District Cemetery in Taft, Kern Co., Californa.

Funeral services will be held at New Hope Temple Church located at 308 Harrison Street, Taft, on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. for long time Taft resident, Rev. Sam White, 82.
Rev. Sam White was born in Lavaca, Arkansas on December 11, 1924 and passed away in Bakersfield on March 3, 2007.
He was in World War II and also the Korean War from 1944 - 1946. While serving in the Air Force, he was a Nose Gunner on a B-24, and proudly served his country.
In Taft, his first job was with Carter's Furniture in 1948 with intentions of making enough money to leave Taft. He was employed by Howard Supply Company for 29 years. For several years he was a partner in S & D Supply company. He founded the New Cuyama Assembly of God Church in 1959 and he pastored there for 45 years. He had a radio ministry for 40 years called "The Message of Hope Broadcast" and for many years did radio work at station KTKR in Taft, 1310 on the radio dial. He also was the president of the Laborers of Harvest for several years. He served on the Alpha House Board and helped many others in time of need. He was a member of the West Side Ministerial Association. Over the years, chances are he has married or buried someone in your family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. White and Lydia White and by his two sisters, Kay Meadows and Johnnye Boggs. His survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, his children, his seven grandchildren, his eleven great grandchildren, his numerous nieces and nephews, his brother, his sister, and a host of friends.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on Tuesday from noon to 5:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home, Taft. This man is truly our family's loss and heaven's gain.
