David James Stoufer was born June 12, 1922 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Frank Martin & Pearl Rose Jobe Stoufer. He married Ruth Potts August 17, 1941 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. They divorced June 1, 1953 in Sebastian County. Another marriage for him has not been found although his wife is mentioned later.

David registered for the military draft June 30, 1942 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Navy. In his biography below is some information about his service. He enlisted September 29, 1942 and served until December 4, 1945. His rank was SC3. No other records have been found.

David James Stoufer passed away October 21, 2014. His burial was in the National Cemetery by Fort Smith.

David J. Stoufer, Sr., 92, of Fort Smith, AR, passed away Tuesday. He was born on June 12, 1922 in Fort Smith.

He was the owner of Non- Ambulatory Transport Service, member of East Side Baptist Church, Sebastian Masonic Lodge #706, 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two children Lisa Lew Stoufer and Guillermo Stoufer.

He is survived by his wife Elva E. Stoufer, three daughters Terri Stoufer-Nicholas of Fort Smith, Edna Carnahan of Fort Smith and Karen Halsell of Fort Smith, five sons David J. Stoufer, Jr. of Fort Smith, Richard M. Stoufer of Eureka Springs, AR, Marc Stoufer of Fort Smith, Stephen Stoufer of Bella Vista, AR and Michael Stoufer of Fort Smith, nineteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great-great granddaughters.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday at Fort Smith National Cemetery Pavilion with burial at Fort Smith National Cemetery with Military Honors.
