Marvin Pogue Spearman

Marvin Pogue Spearman was born December 20, 1919 at Bass Little, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Jess Monroe & Auda Belle Pogue Spearman. He never married.

Marvin registered for the military draft July 1, 1941 in Los Angeles Co., Calif. He served with the US Air Force enlisting the first time November 1, 1941 and serving until Jan 20, 1946. On June 6, 1946 he again enlisted and served until April 20, 1948. Nothing more is found about his time in the service. On the 1950 census he is living at Huntington Park, Los Angeles, California. He is single and his occuption is shipping clerk for a metal products business.

Marvin Pogue Spearman passed away September 30, 2005 with burial in Evans Cemetery, Excelsior, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Marvin Spearman, 85, of Greenwood, Arkansas died Friday, September 30, 2005, in Greenwood. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood and a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Air Force. He was treasurer for Maas-Hanson Steel Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Auda Spearman; one sister, Lorene Gordon and two brothers, Billy and Bud Spearman.

Memorial graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at Evans Cemetery in Excelsior under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

He is survived by three sisters; one brother and his wife, Ellen; and 14 nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 5 North Adair, Greenwood, AR 72956; or Excelsior Baptist Church in Excelsior, Arkansas.
