Claud Monday Shepard, Sr. was born May 17, 1922 at Vesta, near Charleston Franklin Co., Ar. to Walter Bourland & Willie Lee Monday Shepard. September 12, 1941 he married Hazel Safaty, at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar., both residing there at that time.

June 30, 1942 Clauud registered for the military draft at the court house in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. November 12, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army at Little Rock, Ar. He states he has a grammar school education. Some of his records can be found below "The Fighting Men of Arkansas"
