Ralph Paul Smoot was born July 3 1923 in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Arkansas to Elmer & Esma Joyce Smoot. Ralph married Florence Nora Davis on Jan 3, 1948 in Sebastian Co., Ar. On Jan 3, 1948 Ralph and Florence filed for divorce. On Feb 9, 1955 Ralph married Wilma Thuess.

On June 30, 1942 Ralph registred for the military draft in Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army January 29, 1939 and served until January 29, 1963. He served not only in WWII but in the Korean War as well as Vietnam.

Ralph Paul Smoot passed away June 17, 1923 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. with his burial being at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Ralph Paul Smoot, 85, of Greenwood died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in his home. He was a retired Army veteran of World War II.

Graveside service was held on Friday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; six daughters, Becky Moore, Linda Dunn and Diane Smoot, all of Greenwood, Judy Johnson of Huntington, Janie Wilhite of Muldrow and Ursula Boob of Germany; a son, Randy Smoot of Muldrow; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
