Robert Richard Russell was born May 3, 1921 at Greenwood, Sebadtian Co., Ar. to
Ambrose Elbert & Gertrude Ethel Dodson Russell. Rober was married
twice but only 1 marriage record has been found for he and Vilma Louise Cartis on
October 31, 1952 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Ar. His other wife was Bettty I. no
maiden name found. She and Vilma are buried with him in the Fort Smith National
Cemetery.
April 23, 1941 Robert registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian
Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army June 9, 1941 and served until January 5, 1945.
Noting more is known about his service.
Robert Richard Russell passed away June 15, 1983 with his burial
being in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
