Kenneth Walton Ratliff was born July 20, 1924 at Excelsior, Sebastian Co., Ar.
to William Harrison & Mattie Ruth Buttress Ratliff. February 7,
1947 he married Dorothy Boone of Hackett, Sebastian Co., Ar. His residence at
that time was Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar.
Kenneth registered for the military draft December 11, 1942 at Fort Smith,
Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Navy June 12, 1943 at Little Rock,
Arkansas and served on the USS Calamares.He served until February
22, 1946.
January 1, 1944 USS Calamares reported to Commander, Service Force U.S.
7th Fleet, at Sydney, Australia, and until June 1945, provided vital logistic
support for operations in New Guinea and the Philippines, carrying provisions
from Australia, and on two occasions from San Francisco, to the operation areas.
After hostilities ended Calamares continued to support Far East operations
into 1946. Returning to Norfolk, Virginia, 1 April 1946, Calamares was
decommissioned at Baltimore, Maryland, 25 April 1946, and returned to the
War Shipping Administration.
Kenneth Walton Ratliff passed away January 12, 2016 in Oklahoma.
His burial was in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co.,
Oklahoma.

Kenneth Walton Ratliff, 91, of Tulsa, passed away Tuesday, January 12,
2016. He was born July 20, 1924 in Greenwood, AR to William Harrison and Mattie
Ruth Ratliff.
He served in the United States Navy and was a retired machinist
for American Airlines. He was a member of North Sheridan Church of Christ where
he was an elder. He enjoyed traveling abroad, hunting, fishing, camping and
activities where his grandchildren were involved.
He is survived by his wife
of almost 69 years Dorothy Ratliff, his children Kenneth Ratliff, Jr. and his
wife Judy of Tulsa, Don Paul Ratliff and his wife Alice of Catoosa, John Arthur
Ratliff of Tulsa, Debra Edwards and her husband Harlan of Mustang, 9
grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Douglas Harrison Ratliff,
2 sisters Lena Ledbetter and Opal Tranum and 1 brother Deward Ratliff.
