Harold Bonnie Plunkett was born January 4, 1914 at Scranton, Logan Co., Ar. to Herbert Bonnie & Fannie Tibitha Gray Plunkett. January 20, 1940 he married Mary Alberta Potthast in Neosho, Newton Co., Missouri. Both were residents of Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Harold registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas. No date was on his draft cards. He enlisted in the US Navy. We know this from the Navy Muster Records he appears on below as well as his rank over the period covered. The first muster that is found was dated January 31, 1945. Harold Bonnie Plunkett passed away December 17, 2011 in Cherokee Villiage, Sharp County, Arkansas. His burial was in Calvaty Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas.

Harold B. Plunkett, 97, of Fort Smith, passed away peacefully Saturday in Cherokee Village, AR. He was born in Scranton, AR to the late Herbert B. and Fannie T. Plunkett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, to whom he was married for 63 years. They had been members of several local dance clubs, where they enjoyed ball room dancing and fellowship with many friends.

He was a former US Postal employee and retired with over 40 years of service. In WWII, he served in the US Navy in the Pacific Region. For nearly 60 years, he was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and active there as a Minister of the Eucharist. He was also a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. His yard was usually spectacular in the Spring with many roses, irises, crocuses and lilies in bloom.

Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 20th at Fentress Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 9:00 AM Wednesday, December 21st at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
