Raymond Edward Phillips was born March 5, 1911 at Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Colman A. & Susannah Horne Phillips. January 30, 1937 he married Stella Katherine Edwards, both being from Jenny Land.

October 16, 1940 Raymond registered for the military draft at Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Arkansas. He enlisted in the US Navy July 24, 1943 and served until Oct 12, 1945. Nothing more is known about his time in the service. In 1950 he is again a coal miner in Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Raymond Edward Phillips passed away June 19, 2007 at Jenny Lind, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in the Jenny Lind Cemetery.

Raymond Phillips, 96, of Jenny Lind died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, in his home. He was a member of the Jenny Lind Church of Christ and worked in the surrounding coal mines for 45 years.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Survivors are his wife of 70 years, Stella Phillips of Jenny Lind; two daughters, Ina Dolan and Cindy Faulkner; one grandson, Bobby Faulkner; and one great-grandson, Joshua Faulkner.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Coleman and Susan Phillips of Jenny Lind; two brothers, Otto and Earl Phillips of Jenny Lind; four sisters, Pearl Lauwers of Redland, Calif., Gurtie Powers and Lou Ella Phillips of Jenny Lind, and Agnes Groves of Van Buren.

Graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m. today at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. contributed by: Carlene R.
