John Edward Parr

John Edward Parr was born December 8, 1918 in Crawford County, Arkansas to James Arthur & Lillie Bridges Parr. September 7, 1940 John married Doris June Craig, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, at Fort Smith.

John registered for the military draft October 16, 1940 at Parker School in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas. April 8, 1944 he enlisted in the US Army. He served until February 4, 1946 attaining the rank of TEC 5. Nothing further is known about his service.

January 1, 2004 John Edwad Parr passed away at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He was buried in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

John E. Parr, 85, of Fort Smith, Arkansas died Thursday, January 1, 2004. He was retired from Harding Glass Co. after 38 years of service. He was a member of First of First Freewill Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW and Ellig Stouffer American Legion Post No. 31.

Funeral was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, a son, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
