Martin Luther Oliver
1919-1989
Martin Luther Oliver was born October 31, 1919 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to
William "Bill" Jefferson & Nellie Myrtle East Oliver. April 30, 1971 he
married Janice L. Wine in Reno, Nevada. (note from Joan Oliver - This was his second wife but no name
has been found for the 1st wife.)
Martin registered for the military draft July 1, 1941 at Greenwood, Arkansas.
He enlisted in the US Marine Corps October 7, 1941 and served until September
27, 1945. One Marine muster report was found from October 1941. He served with
Co., K, 3rd Battalion 9th Marine, 2nd Marine Divions. He was wounded in action
August 3, 1944 at TAB OLIG-OLSEN. His rank was Platoon Sergeant. Nothing more is
found about his service.
Martin Luther Oliver passed away July 15, 1989. His burial was in
Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson, Co. California.
