Earl Edney Moreland was born May 23, 1901 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to
Edward Newton & Mary Elizabeth Patterson Moreland. January 8, 1924 he
married Anna Ruth Fahrner from South Fort Smith, Ar.
Earl enlisted in the US Army for active duty January 6, 1941. He had already
served with the National Guard and had a rank of 1st Sgt. His branch was Field Artillery.
His discharge date was May 30, 1960.
Earl Edney Moreland passed away July 11, 1969 at Little Rock, Pulaski Co., Ar.
His burial was in the Fort Smith National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co.,
Arkansas.

Funeral service for Earl Moreland, 68, 1920 N 14th Street, a lifelong resident
of Fort Smith who died Friday in a Little Rock hospital, will be held Monday at
2 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at National Cemetery (Fort Smith).
He was a retired chief warrant officer in the U.S. Army, retired Sebastian
County Deputy Sheriff, member of First Methodist Church, past president of
Rogers Bible Class, member of the National Sheriff's Organization, American
Legion, Woodmen of the World, Belle Point Lodge No. 20, Amrita Grotto, and
the original Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Anna; one son,
Wesley, Fort Smith; two sisters, Mrs. W.E. Clark and Miss Ruth Moreland,
both of Little Rock, and Mrs. Florence Yocum of South Gate, California;
and four grandchildren.
