James Fred Matteson was born January 28, 1922 Langdon, Reno, Kansas to Roland Alva & Lillie Alvina Durham Matteson. July 27, 1941 he married Virginia Rauser at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. where they both resided.

Nothing is found about his service in the military except what is in his biography below.

James Fred Matteson passed away November 27, 2007 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Forest Park Cemetery at Fort Smith.

FORT SMITH -- J. Fred Matteson, 85, of Fort Smith died Nov. 27, 2007.

He was retired from the entertainment business, was a member of Central Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail Turner of Fort Smith; two sons, James Matteson and wife Brenda of Rogers and David Matteson and wife Sharon of Mount Ida; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Reichert officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery
