William Darrell Martin was born April 9,1915 in South Sebastian Co., Ar. to James Buford & Lela Williams Martin. November 14, 1936 he married Frances Louise Carter in Sebastian County, both being residents of Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Arkansas.

William enlisted in the US Air Force October 30, 1942 and served until February 2, 1946 with the 541st Base Hq- and air base Squadron a/s-Ac. More can be found in his biography below.

Ralph Paul Smoot, 85, of Greenwood died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in his home. He was a retired Army veteran of World War II.

Graveside service was held on Friday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma; six daughters, Becky Moore, Linda Dunn and Diane Smoot, all of Greenwood, Judy Johnson of Huntington, Janie Wilhite of Muldrow and Ursula Boob of Germany; a son, Randy Smoot of Muldrow; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
